Agree...and sorry to see us losing the V's and Mylo.

(nice version of complaint)...and as I've had 2 posts uncerimoniously deleted already today (one that sarcastically called for a mod to step in on a "personal attack" and one that simply said, "Rude") Both had quotes, but someone else that quoted the "rude" poster was not deleted, and basically said he was rude.

I will be keeping a close eye on the direction this takes.

Censorship in the name of "protection" is a dangerous thing my friends.

While I understand the intent of playing nice, people should be called out if their posts deserve it.

The site belongs to John and he is trying to balance community interaction, information, reviews, topics and certainly maybe a little revenue from ads to keep it going. It has rules such as no X rated or offensive pictures because this is a community family site and if you want pR0n go to the rest of the Internet...not here.

I think it better to enforce rules about no posting libelous, threatening or offensive comments\topics. Then suggest that people be polite, be respectful as well as earn respect, follow the common rules\guidelines here and other forums. My $.02

Always sorry to see someone go that is such positive influence and that has such a controlled temper. Just my opinion, of course. You just need to take a step back and relax. Stress is not good for anyone.

especially since he has never been banned... it is BS!! A few NEWBIES come, post a couple times, and mostly just to talk sh** and then leave, and then they claim there are complaints...

If you can't state situations, and just want to make general blanket statements then it is ALL BS.

See this is the type of talk that this forum does not need. Everyone likes to hear what other people think but there is a way in which you can say it which will not be offensive. It is all about respect for fellow humans. Have a good night

Okay everyone, typically we handle this via PM, but since Chris brought it up, here's the down-low:

Chris, I think in general you post a lot of good stuff here. However I think you also wear your pride on your sleeve and have a tendency to lose control of your emotions at times. I didn't ask you to leave but I did ask you to stop harassing people. I think it's a fair request. I've told many posters to "kick it down a notch" - some have, some have not. Those who did not are no longer here.

This goes for anyone - if anyone is harassing you via PM, please see me or steve and we will deal with the poster appropriately. Take the high road and do not respond - I do not ever want to see something escalate to a physical confrontation. We've never had an issue with anything like this and I hope we never will. However when I see something that concerns me I have to do something. This is beyond being a pain in the arse or calling names. Bullying will not be tolerated here. It's absolutely against the intention of this site.

Lastly, Jolene sums it up best - it's an internet forum... don't let a silly internet site raise your blood pressure. I know I may lose members this way but I didn't create this site to stress people out... just walk away if you have to, you won't be the first.

I agree, as I have been asked a few times to kick it down and I did. This forum is great and I have gotten so many great answers. Life is too short to get your BP up. Just have fun and enjoy. Thanks John for keeping us all straight.

And it should be obvious that I always try to be civil and argue ideas rather than personalities. You may not agree with me, but I don't think I have ever gotten personal other than the one time I intimated that someone was being a pretentious arse.

Ummm, I am still wondering what "rules" I have broken...
What got me irritated earlier and caused my mini-rant was that I failed to see how the word "Rude" in response to a rude post was worthy of deletion. At least I didn't have a lot of time invested in that particular response

Why be chicken and PM someone? Why not post it on the forum so we can all see? If you're gonna be tough enough to PM someone, then you'd better have thick enough skin when they PM you back. I like the Vs. People that send messages via PM to attack someone are usually the people that wouldn't say something to your face, but are more than willing to spread something behind your back.

I think you guys should stay.

Ok here is my thought...

I hate to see the V's go, I have laughed at some of their comments, I have thought because of their comments and frankly I have cringed at a couple... that being said... what bothers me if anything is that if you get an innappropriate PM you should deal with it differantly than "alledged" here.. (because I have not actually seen or recieved the alledged innapropriate PM to or from anybody) Anyways, as Neighborhood Leaders that is where I see the problem, I look to u as representatives of the forum... and feel responding to some of the less than nice PMs with your own less than nice PMs only fuels a fire that really should be snuffed. Seems if you remove the NL title, I feel... u remove the problem, and keep on posting.

I am the type of person that likes to have the last word, loves a confrontation, and when I know I am right, I will argue it to the end.. but if the back and forth is counter productive... I ignore it. Especially when it isn't face to face! Those are my favorite.

I also believe that both Andrea and Chris feel strongly in their choice to leave and why. I believe that you stand behind your choices and I respect that. If you must go... I get it. But i wish you wouldn't.

Finally... I do think there are a lot of newbies who do contribute positively, I hate the blanket statements that they are all problems...

Well then, heavily implying that you should leave, but not him, is a double standard.

People need to grow up. I don't know that there is anyone on this forum that doesn't have a problem with someone else. Do all of us go tattling to the mods? No. It's called using the ignore function and/or being a grown up and moving on. Complaining about someone to the point where the mods say something is ridiculous. It's an internet forum, people.

I'd say "being a grown up" should apply to those who endlessly throw down the personal attacks...and have some site protection, to where mods are too timid to respond after being told that they "pick" on certain members "too much!" The ignore function sucks, in my opinion... It might be an option for people without any curiosity...but not me.

You know I've disagreed with you at times. But that doesn't mean I think you should leave.
My recommendation when you get threatening cussword PM's is to not stoop to that person's level by replying in kind. Either ignore it, or as John requests, forward it with a note, "John, can you please take care of this, thanks, Chris V".
