Actually the person she hit (a cop) ended up with a broken hip or fractured hip so that is a little more than a minor injury.

Another note in response to why was he released and are some privileged, I am not an expert but I don't think they put cops in the drunk tank due to the fact that they are cops most times they are released on there own recognizance which is not uncommon for the public either not all drunks are taken to the tank they can be cited and released if they are border line, someone can come get them and they aren't be arses' to the cops... I'm just saying...

Actually, your statement is not true, the officer was not hurt, he tripped over a cement parking barrier and stumbled into a planter box, lost no time from work, filed no workerman's comp claim, went to work the next day -- 12 of our finest were called to the scene...how many were there to arrest the Folsom Police Officer for a DUI and battery. I had the opportunity to read the police report on the first incident. The woman was called from her home for a ride - she had been asleep and was in her Pajamas - Quite a bit different than an Officer drinking and brawling to the wee hours of the morning -- I have more compassion for the woman than the officer, but either way they should be treated the same.

My husband works at Mesquite and the story is this:

The policeman (off-duty) was drunk and obnoxious in the bar... breaking bottles and being loud. The owner called the cops. When the police arrived they were just going to drive him home. The owner insisted for an arrest. Policeman or not... should be arrested.

And, when you take a job as an authority position (such as a cop) you should always act respectable and responsible. Next time he shouldn't take a job where not possessing those qualities all the time wont risk his job. Too bad for him...

So where's the altercation part with the female? And what about the part where he got in his car and drove away and then was stopped? Your story doesn't jibe with the rest of the story out there.

I don't want to get into a war of words with anyone, but just wanted to say that I've met Officer Fardanesh on multiple occasions at my work over the last quite a few years and he has always been very professional and polite. Clearly a bad decision on his part and I don't think anyone is suggesting leniency, but just keep in mind, law enforcement and firefighters are humans too. They have families to support just like everyone else does and most people don't have to worry about losing their job over a DUI. I do hope the judgment is fair by all standards.

Does he shave his head?

I would hope he would get the same treatment as anyone else with the same record...nothing more and nothing less.

I disagree - he should get exemplary punishment

I agree with you, I think law officers should be held to a different standard. If they are going into the profession of handing out tickets to those that violate laws like drunk driving, they of all people should no better than to do the same. Same goes for judges, District attorneys, etc. anyone working in law enforcement I think should get 2X punishment for violating the same crimes their job is to fight. It's like the ultimate in hypocrisy. OK, thinking about it, it's in second place. The ultimate in hypocrisy is Catholic Priests sexually molesting children.

After watching the CBS 13 video, Officer Michelle Beattie stated " even though Officer Evan Fardanesh got a DUI, he will not loose his job "

I just cant believe that being a Police Officer for the city of Folsom and getting a Dui is ok and you wont loose your job !

My next question is, If I had a DUI on my record and I applied for a Police Officer position for the city of Folsom would they hire me ??

Yes, you could get hired, as long as the misdemeanor DUI was OFF-DUTY.
