How many gigs for a typical 2 hour movie?

When I record movies to my computer using Windows Media Center, it usually is about 5GB for a 2 hour one. 3.5 for a one hour show.

OK, that answers question 1

How about question 2?

so you don't have to go back to read it:

How many GB's for a typical 2 hour movie?

edit below

Never mind, I see ChefRaven answered it for ya.
Thanks ChefRaven.
I would rather be Backpacking

M is not a million but a K squared, or IOW 1,048,576

Good compression will get a reasonable vid for 1GB/Hr of SD

Okay, people. Babelfish doesn't have a geek to English translation option.

Does all this GB, KB, TB stuff have anything to do with playing Netflix movies over my PS3? Because I just signed up and my CD is on its way and I'm kind of excited about trying it out.

Nah, streaming Netflix requires very little free-space. But in terms of bandwidth, you will need a big enough reliable connection. Hopefully you don't have Comcast. smile.gif

This is especially going to become a concern as digital media streaming becomes the norm. Broadband (and even wireless) providers are going to be taking on all the load that Hollywood Video and the USPS used to handle, in real-time. The solution will be price-per-gigabyte charging, so the size of the media will play a critical role in how much you pay to watch it.

For anyone who wants to geek out on Netflix encoding, check this out:

Thanks for not raining on my parade. Nope, don't have Comcast.

Unconfirmed, but Mr. Hughes says it's closed?
