Thank you again for the update, Jolene. As Jessica stabilizes, I hope you can get a little more rest so you can be strong for her when she is awakened. As others have said, Jessica is in excellent hands at UCD and we anticipate continued positive progress.

CW,

If you have a chance, please tell us a little about Jessica. From prior posts, we know she likes dancing and horses. How old is she? Somehow it helps to feel like we "know" the little girl we are worrying about.

I have met Jessica several times. She is a bright, caring, inquisitive beautiful child. What amazed me most when I was working at her house and she was 'helping' me, were the questions she was asking. I was really astounded at the quality and the thought process of the questions, they were many many years beyond her age.

Jessica, you stay strong and you fight with all your might.

J&J&J, you guys be strong for her, advocate for her at the hospital, ask 10 trillion questions. The folks at UCD were truly amazing during my moms recent illness and surgery there.

Love to you all..

jeff

So glad to hear that Jolene! I can't wait to see you all this afternoon. If you are still having power issues, just call my cell and leave me a message if you need me to bring anything with me.

I wanted to add to what Jeff said about Jessica - everything he said plus:
Jessica is the kind of kid that is ALWAYS smiling. I'm sure she has her moments like all kids do, but she is just a genuinely happy kid. I know for a fact that comes from her mom smile.gif If you know Jolene, just picture her shrunk down into a 10 year old and you've got a good idea of who Jessica is! Jessica is a chatty kathy, but not in an annoying way - she's just always got stuff to say! She's fun to be around and really and truly is everyone's friend. She comes up with these things where you turn around and look at her and can't believe a 10 year old said it! She's like a mini-adult. She's bright and inquisitive. Jessica loves to dance it and shows on her face. She really gets into the music and you can see on her face that the dance has transformed her to another place. She's hilarious and has fun at everything she does. It's very fun to watch her dance - when my daughter was in dance company, Jolene and I would sit together and just laugh and laugh. It was pretty hilarious to watch these little beings stealing the show. Jolene, that dance she did with Kiley with the umbrella's still makes me laugh to this day. They had such a good time and worked so hard on that one!

Jessica was an only child for a LONG time and is such an amazing big sister to Jocelyn. From my perspective, there was not an issue with transition - she seemlessly transformed from having it all be about her to sharing her mom and Jesse's attention with this loveable little baby girl. She is a good example for my daughter who had to to the same thing about a year later! She loves her little sister with all her heart and is a little mother to her.

Jessica is a strong little girl and if anyone can come back from this, she will. My bets on her and knowing Jessica, she will literally and figuratively get right back on the horse.

Wow that is very interesting. Music can be hugely therapeutic! Anyway to pipe in some of her favorite dance music or her favorite tunes so she can hear them? Even a mini boom box that can be heard across the room that plays cds or FM radio or whatever is her preference and also can be shut off whenever hospital staff needs the room silent. Even short phases of music played for her can offer some help perhaps. Some music that has made her smile, talks to her and something very familiar to her heart. It can be very soothing, calming and reassuring. I continue to send happy, positive thoughts with positive energy and healing light to her.

This is a great idea!
I too continue to send out healing, positive thoughts for Jessica.
Thanks for the updates and the wonderful insight to what an amazing girl Jessica is.

I spent some time with Jessica, Jolene and Jesse this afternoon. The first thing I really want to impart is that there is a peacefulness that you feel to your bones the minute that you walk in the room. Jessica is a little girl, but she is a big personality (hmm sound familar Jolene?) and even though she is "sleeping" you feel her presence in the room without a doubt. Jolene is amazingly calm and serene and Jesse as always is his girls' rock. Jessica is beautiful even with all the "stuff" around. She looks like she's going to wake up any minute and start telling you about her new shoes or something her guinea pig did that was funny. There is no doubt that she is in the PICU, but even so, there is such a feeling of calm.

Jolene and Jesse are amazing and rock solid. They are only thinking positive thoughts and it is palpable. I went in to the room expecting, well to be honest, I really didn't know what to expect! But I left with so much hope and a feeling that it's just a matter of time before Jessica is up and at em again! And I truly believe that.

I spoke a bit with Jessica, and I believe, like Jolene, that she can hear what is going on in the room. She has such an amazing array of stuffed animals and balloons and cards in her room that you can't help but be cheered up! Jolene has been by her side 24/7 since Thursday but you wouldn't know it from looking at her. She is just so full of hope and positivity (is that a word? Just made it one smile.gif! Yes, I'm sure she has her moments as is to be expected.

I knew this was an amazing family before the accident, but it has been verified 100 times over since. I know that Jessica will recover and I know that Jolene and Jesse will do everything in their power to ensure that it happens. They feel every bit of love, prayer and hope that we are all sending so keep it coming! They have a long road in front of them and we all need to keep showering the strength and love on them. Jolene has given of herself so often and done so much for so many of us, I told her that it's her turn to sit back and reap what she has sown.

Let me know what things need to be done, perhaps we can choose by the scheduled task, the day of the week available, some input or choosing off a master list. I don't send my personal information to just anyone because they ask. So I can be reached at knels808@yahoo.com. I'd like to help.

Barb...you couldn't have said it better! I was there with them this evening and felt just as you did. Jolene is a "rock" and her love for her daughter is bigger than any love!
I feel that Jolene is getting thru this from all the love, prayers and positive thoughts that people are sending their way. So, please keep it up! It is helping all of them!

CW...please add me to your list of helpers smile.gif
