I question most Yelp comments, many sound like self promotion. I also question some of the nasty comments, many sound like a competitor trying to slime their competition.

After our daughter's wedding I wrote up a heck of a review for our awesome DJ, Ray Lauderdale with Perfect Sounds. Evidently it was so good Yelp questioned its authenticity and filtered it. You can still get to it if you know to check the filtered reviews link, but I don't know if everyone knows to look there -- and then people doubt whether it's a valid review. Ticks me off.

I have reservations for 2 for tonight at Chez Daniel which I was really looking forward too. Unfortunately I am fighting a bad flu bug and cannot go :( . I know reservations are hard to come by and I wanted to put it out there in case anyone would like to take our reservations.
Really bummed, this was an aniversary dinner.
As a side note, husband and I went to Olive Garden the other week and spent $60.00 on:
green salad, pasta.and a soda.............no wine, no desset, no appetizer...........just salad,pasta and a soda.........

It amazes me that people think that for the price we paid at Olive Garden, dining out at a fine French restaurant with a highly regarded French Chef whose former restaurant was the HIGHEST RATED in all of Sacramento, and having an all inclusive dinner that includes:
his famous French Onion Soup, Salad with Champagne dressing, Entree and Dessert for $60.00 or less for 2 is expensive...really????? For goodness sake it's CHEAPER than Olive Garden!!!!
Granted it's not an everyday meal, it should be a celebratory meal, but with some high end restaurants charging upwards of $200.00 per person, $30.00 or less per person is VERY reasonable.

Anywho, really bummed I can't make it but maybe our loss will be your gain

If I was in town, I'd go tonight. Currently my wife and I are booked for next Saturday.
Hope you feel better soon.

To EAH, I'm sorry about your downtime, I hope someone will be able to pinch-hit for you tonight.. what a bummer and on your anniversary to boot. Have a fast recovery cycle and give Daniel a visit when you're back on the road...

It's also possible the poster is a huge fan who wants to make sure the restaurant succeeds, finally found a reason to join MyFolsom, and copied and pasted the review to Yelp rather than rewrite it.

It's possible.

Yes. Debbie, you are exactly correct!

I am a loyal fan from La Bonne Soup. Originally, I did not have the business details in the post I made. But since "Harold" had a question I thought I would post more detail so there were no more questions. If you look at the bottom of my post you can see that it has the edited time stamp. Unfortunately, some people on this forum even flagged my post on yelp and yelp removed my review. SAD.

The three of us that went to Chez Daniel are real people that are not related to Chef Daniel Pont. I invited my business attorney, Robert Haney and his wife Jean Haney for a nice outing.

Furthermore, I cook for a living at a small restaurant in Granite Bay. Because I understand cost of food in a kitchen setting, I really admire how much Chef Pont puts in to his work. It is greatly respectable that he works so hard and his talent comes at such an affordable price, so that everyone can enjoy how much passion and love he puts into his dishes.

Chez Daniel will definitely add our loved city of Folsom to the culinary map.

Debbie, I do appreciate your positive comment. Thank you.

That's wonderful! I never got to go to the downtown soup place, but I heard great things about it. :D:

well, we went tonight because today is my birthday, but we are certainly not going to wait for a special occasion to go again. we are very very fortunate that Chef Daniel has chosen to open this beautiful little slice of France in Folsom. The atmosphere is white table clothes and dark wood, perfect lighting, perfect music. We tried the french onion soup and the creamy vegetable soup. both were excellent. French onion soup can be too heavy, too sweet, too much, but this soup was not. Perfectly light and flavorful, as was the vegetable. We both had the poached salmon with a very light and lovely cream sauce over spinach, with sides of asparagus, carrots and scalloped potatoes. I think we stopped talking because the food was so good we had tunnel vision on the plates. Dessert was a surprise. One of us received a heavenly pumpkin pie with a lightly whipped cream and raspberry sauce. The other a cute little crepe. The service was attentive, friendly, sophisticated. Everything was elegant and sophisticated, in fact. I left feeling perfect. Not too full (we took some of our dinners home because we couldn't finish them without being too full for dessert). The price is modest in relationship to what you receive. We left feeling well cared for and appreciated.

You Must Go!!! Do it soon because I predict this wonderful little cafe is going to become a hot spot. I can't think of a better restaurant in the Folsom/EDH area for a really elegant night. I wouldn't recommend it for children or large parties. And I am going to post this on Yelp as well and I am not in any way associated with this wonderful labor of love that is a restaurant (other than now being a faithful customer from this day forward!).
Knowing the past helps deciphering the future.
