Folsom Bans Alcohol in Parks

The winning about this alcohol ban is unbelievable. Yes, there are some grey areas but that exists for most laws. So how does a officer decide to give you a speeding ticket if you are 3 or 6 or 9 mph over the speed limit? How do they choose to give warnings for certain situations rather than others. They are trained to do it. Yes, there maybe a few incidents that are questionable, but in the long run the results are good.
The law does a lot more good than harm. This is protecting our community, keeping it safe, and preventing some of the rowdy behavior that we don't want in our "special" city...

I agree with you about the police being able to use their head about enforcement but I worry about the length of the process...will it require a trip towndown...or maybe too trips...will you have to list the folks in your group...
and if you forgot and the police see your block party and you have to permit they almost have to write you up...
Its just going to make life more damn complicated, not that I care...I like sitting on a old bar stool sharing a story or two.
since the old mayor is talking to the homeless drinkers and pissers he may be able to find out what a city has to do to make them unwelcome. maybee do a litte pick up before the free dinner or find ways to tear down their camps. seems like the city is always going after their campsites.
If I was an old homeless person I wouldn't have the money for the $100 fine but on a wet and stormy night with the old wind blowing I woulln't mind going off the jail. and then the police would have to burn gas taking me downtown..

I am stoked. No more easy-to-hit moving targets babbling in the streets. I hope this helps to curb a dangerous situation and improve Folsom's image as a city.

Care to be more specific? Where does it say you can't drink in your driveway?

Unless I am wrong, I believe DailyDos' post is dripping w/ sarcasm.

I had to throw that out there. Sorry.

Ridiculous. Next thing you know, you won't be able to drink a beer in your backyard if your neighbors have a two story house and can see you.

Ban two-story homes.

Reminds me of Farley's nude backyard sunbathing thread.
Ban nude backyard beer drinking. Maybe drinking beer is the cause of backyard nudity.

This might be a serious issue, indicative of the general moral decline in suburbia. Perhaps we should spend some of our tax dollars to study the connection.

I recall a law being passed in NY that allowed women to walk around in the city topless (women's movement wanted equal rights to walking around topless in summer months).

One comment:
This law is a TOOL for law enforcement.
It is common in many jurisdictions. Folsom was the exception.
I want to thank every single FPD officer on the beat who could
not adequately protect us without this tool.
I also want to thank every FPD officer for being so diligent and supportive to me and my neighbors -- near several parks --- on a regular basis.
I have lived around here for lots of years, and I had only one
minor issue with an FPD employee -- (I mean, one who was out on the streets
doing their oftentimes thankless job.)
Congratulations on this ordinance. I saw first hand how much you needed this tool.
I know Folsom was the place for public drinkers to be - because you did not have this tool.
I wish to say: Thanks FPD BEAT OFFICERS!!!
Be safe out there.
