Field looks good. Last one was pretty banged up. Program is doing good, attracts lots of college scouts. Lots of the kids are going to 4 year colleges. The football program brings in money to the school. Look at all of the major colleges....without the football and basketball programs they wouldn't have money for the rest of the school. Its a trade off. How much money does the football program bring in in the way of gate revenue? It is hard, on the other hand, to look at all of the recent cuts and wonder if the some of the programs couldn't have been revived as well? Maybe the money was earmarked specifically for stadium improvements?

I have said same thing. Got cut down by negative comments. I think encouraging school spirit, and community involvement in schools is worth the monetary expenditures. Folsom HS has a good program, good coaches, and good kids in a well established sports program which is helping kids get to their dreams. Add to that the field is cheaper to maintain each year with turf vs natural and it makes sense to me.

Vista, because of the newness of the school, has not developed a rapport with the community and created a set of traditions and fondness for their teams, yet. I don't think the lack of bleachers keeps them from playing at the home field if they really wanted to. It would be very easy to set up a new tradition like picnics and a game or something to encourage involvement. Just takes creativity. I would love to see Vista get their own bleachers, if they really think that is inhibiting them from playing at home and getting people to watch their games.

FHS is very possessive of their track. Sutter approached them about having their track meets there. FHS "allowed" it once and then said no.
Said no? Who the *#$* put FHS in charge of district facilities? That's probably a rhetorical question..they seem to do whatever they want anyway.

Given the amount of waste at the district office and the bait and switch they pulled to get the new district office built, I question the districts decision making ability. Unfortunately, in the last election board members ran unoppsed. As with the city council incumbents always get reelected. Again, keep this in mind when the district tries to pass a bond measure next year.
After all this time you're still "questioning" their decision making ability? I think the ship has sailed on that one. Thinking perhaps some board members should be checking their iPads and reading about WTH is going on in the district; if that care I suppose. Only a bunch of fools would vote to pass a Folsom bond after the RC taxpayers got rogered on their last measure (and were duped into passing another!). Fool me once...

...Look at FHS, the landscape is horrible and it already looks like the maintenance is lacking and this is a top rated school. Where is all the money? ...
Not sure it's as much about the money as it is other priorities -- maintenance decisions are made by the status of personal relationships. One should expect improvements at Sutter Middle to wane and Oak Chan to rebound. It's a wonder anything gets done with all the nepotism.

All I know is that Sutter looks like a dump compared to Folsom Middle and Folsom High is becoming the same as Sutter, with the exception of the football field.
Sutter has great programs, but if they don't do something about the cockroaches and garbage, not to mention the hobos that are always around the school, then what's the point?
Btw, for the person that says football brings in money for the school may be correct, school isn't about being a business. It's suppose to meet the educational needs of a diverse community and not all educational pursuits will bring money to the school. Some will bring in prestige but not money, while others are worthy pursuits but do not bring in any additional money to the school.

Obviously you Haven't been to Vista del Lago in the seven years that its been opened or you would know
This is the EXACT reason Vista JV and Varsity DON'T play at their home field. There are only a small amount of bleachers on one side of the field and on the other side is a hill of dirt. It is not usable for picnics and such. And not to sound rude but it seems that the "city" and some NOT ALL FOLSOMITES. don't want to build a relationship with Vista. This thread wasn't started about lack of spectators at the games it's about the district spending money on stupid stuff like blue fields. The builders obviously didn't think it through when building the school so there should be some "cell tower money " going toward that

Are you referring to a certain district employee that has a weakness for alcohol and an over active libido? Not sure it's as much about the money as it is other priorities -- maintenance decisions are made by the status of personal relationships. Camerado Middle School hosts its track meets at Ponderosa High. It is a wonderful example of cooperation between the two schools. The snack bar is open during the meet and they make a lot of money.

It wasn't the builders fault. Their responsibilities for infrastructure are negotiated by the city.

Have you been to a Friday night football game? Lack of bleachers is the only reason Vista does not play on their home field. Picnics? Where in the world would you sit and have a picnic during a Friday night game? Not to mention there would be no way to see the game without bleachers.

Took my FHS Marching Band daughter by look at the field. Wow! Is it BLUE!! And the end zones are bright red. Their marching band uniforms are going to blend in.

Its is the participation and presence that would make the difference. Setting the stage for calling out for bleachers. Geez... chill out
