Think it will fit in my brand new "Green Waste" container?

View Post

I would agree that it should be taken out.. Just be sure to chop it up to the size they want in the 'green waste" can- I would say 6ft sections would do smile.gif

Here is a garden that I would not mind at all if it was in my backyard, but this one from Nature- Inteligent design or evolution - you decide ... Lovely anyways....

The hills you drive through going south I5 through the grapevine look like this in March or April, depending on the weather and rain. Gorgeous.

We were walking around the front and back gardens this morning, making note of how many trees and shrubs are starting to leaf and to bloom. With a few days of sunshine, the flowers will be showing up nearly everywhere.

Along with all the new growth and plentiful water, there will also be a nice new crop of weeds. Be sure to get out and do some weeding while the ground is nice and moist. The weeds should come out easily. Once Folsom soil drys, you'll need to practically drill out the weeds.

Oh boy, gardening out here is going to be a different beast than LP, isn't it? I'm going to need your help this fall. I don't think I'll be getting to too much gardening this Spring.

I hate pulling weeds. Anyone got a kid that wants to earn a little money?

how do folks around here deal with the dirt? - the soil here is just like concrete - I think we're gonna have to buy a jack hammer to be able to do any kind of planting or landscaping work.

I dug 3 trees out a few weeks ago - small fruit trees - I'm replacing them with pine trees for the shade, but it should have taken about 30 minutes to do that - instead it took over 3 hours to chip away the dirt and rocks around the roots to get those things out - the soil here is really bad, the top layer is rock and some dirt and about a foot down its pure clay.

This kind of makes people more impressed with our front and back gardens, because of the soil we had to contend with. It was a daily joke that no matter where we chose to dig, it was as if we would unearth a huge rock.

By the way, all of you folks that would like to check out some other Folsom backyards, the Folsom Garden Club is having their sixth annual garden tour coming up soon, April 30. It's a self-guided tour of six private homes who have really worked hard to make their yards shine. Tickets are $10 and you can pick them up at lots of locations in Folsom, especially flower shops and a few others. It's a nice fund raiser and they're really nice people too.

I contacted the Garden Club. Here's what they said:

six interesting gardens, one in North Folsom, three in the Historical District and two off east Natomas Drive. One is a Queen Anne home built in 1894. This home fell into disrepair years ago. Now two gardens have been restored and a lovely gazebo and the home are in the process of being restored to their original beauty.
