QUOTE(Teresa Stanley @ Mar 30 2006, 07:57 PM) View Post

Teresa Stanley is a school board member and an attorney, but not Mr. Richard's attorney. I do divorce law and mediation, as well as estate planning/wills/trusts. I read and post on myfolsom.com, so when I read the Bulldog Times I questioned why Mr. Richard had concerns. He responded to me and copied me on letters to Barb and to Steve Heard.

With what Mr. Richards brought up, How do we know this is indeed Teresa Stanley?

What does it matter if it is or not? This isn't some conspiracy. It is just a simple mistake. This is a decent board and I think the Principle will see that. He has his student’s best interests at heart. There isn't anything wrong with that.
If anything it is making me think twice about the quality of my posts.

Funny that. He can't just opine that she's a predator instead of the real Teresa Stanley because Teresa's an attorney and you never know what they'll do.

Anyway, this isn't about her, it's about the site and high school kids using the forum. I think it'll bring more of us parents and probably more students to the site now.

Well, unfortunately Myfolsom.com was lumped with myspace.com. I don't believe there are equal "dangers" there, but I do believe that parents can provide oversight on any and all websites visited by their children. Granted, high schoolers can be a little more independent, but why not use this forum for discussion of the issues between parents and their teens.

It was not unfortunate, ( Like maybe an error in his mind) it was purposefully written based on heresay and poor judgement--- nothing more...
Sure he could have simply suggested to have parental review of ALL websites-- but he chose instead to vililfy this site.... and not only lump it with myspace, but also SUGGEST in the same sentence that it WAS DANGEROUS AND HAD PREDATORS LURKING....

QUOTE
You assume all parents of teens are caring and provide oversight and guidance. That's not always true, and I think that's what this "caution" is. But then again, non-caring parents won't get a clue anyway.

I assume nothing of the kind... and as I see it- myfolsom would be a totally unrestricted website to any of my kids as it deals with the real world of folks and kids mostly in Folsom and has topics that would not normally be in a students education packet at home nor school , 99% of which ( the myfolsom topics) are informative and educational...
To use the words that he did in describing THIS Site- is surely a huge error of his ignorance...

I also find it in his poor taste not to answer emails sent to him on the subject... We only know of one or two respnses by members, but surely others , including I, have sent comments expecting answers and a retraction and apology....

... and what is this about him getting ADVISE from LAW ENFORCEMENT ( his answer to Barb) ????

Cheers

Really? I thought it was pretty obvious.

But anyway, back on subject, I heard that letters sent by hand make more of an impression than E-Mails?

Just to reiterate......there are two versions of Mr. Richards' e-mail in this thread. One is not correct. (prichards@fcusd.k12.ca.us)

The correct e-mail is: prichard@fcusd.k12.ca.us

Be sure you're using the correct e-mail. If you used the "prichards" version, he won't get it, so he won't be able to respond.

As to whether or not I should consider myself a Folsom Resident...I currently live in Mather...BUT, my step-father still resides in Folsom, and we moved to Folsom when I was in the 1st Grade. I consider Folsom my home town, and to not be able to use the myfolsom.com site for anything but general posts...well, I'd say I have to disagree.

Just because we temporarily live outside of the Folsom City limits, doesn't mean we are not Folsomites.

I've called Folsom my home for 22 years....I'm sure that's longer than most of the myfolsom.com users. It should count for something........

LOL- I actually got a response faster using the wrong email: biggrin.gif

One of the reasons I like this site and it is pretty much the only forum that I read and participate on a regular basis is because it usually encourages thought about topics that affect us locally and beyond. This is one of the few places that, for the most part, seem to have thinkers that evaluate all aspects of a topic rather than a bunch of dolts flinging poo at each other. Makes for some thought provoking conversations.

Children should practice conformity. No free thinking allowed! Parents need to protect their children from sites like this! whistle.gif
