Tiffany's ( a girls best friend )
and
Bloomingdales
Restoration Hardware
Pottery Barn
now it would be a great center....
On a side note: Can anyone tell me why we need another Walmart? Why is the City of Folsom allowing this?

I watch the retail industry very closely and I have seen that Bloomingdales tends to build in malls. Rarely would they build in a more lifestyle center. Also they usually go to malls that have several department store anchors (Nordstrom, JC Penney, Sears, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Saks...)
That is true of any department store. They all "tend to" build in malls.

I meant that they are very "picky" into where they go. They will only pick the most successful malls (or will be) in the country (such as the Galleria). This center is not a traditional mall, currently the developers have said that they are not looking for a department store. I'm sure if Bloomindale's wanted to come they would let them, but that is unlikely. The Galleria has rumored that Neiman Marcus could be a possibility in the future.

Hey Kirah,
I just moved to Folsom from Rancho Cucamonga. I lived just a half mile from Victoria Gardens and walked there frequently just to stroll about. I believe that Folsom and El Dorado Hills and Cameron Park could support a mall of this type. I have no desire to plod over to Roseville to their behemoth mall. It's a nightmare no matter how they improve traffic conditions. It's an old-style mall designed to draw in large numbers of people and keep them shopping rather than to serve the lifestyle needs of the community itself. It's more of a destination for shoppers who want to spend the better part of a day there. I have better things to do, but I also like nice things. I'd rather have shops and cafes and performing arts anyday instead of row upon row of storefronts that may be high-end and trendy, but aren't too convenient. I liked the open-air, high-end concept of Victoria Gardens. There were all the usual Banana Republics, PF Changs and the like, but they also had Crate and Barrel, Border's, Macy's and there was talk of courting Nordstrom to replace Robinson's after Macy's acquired them. I liked how Rancho Cucamonga combined the mall concept with a cultural venue. Their city library was situated there along with their children's theater and performaing arts centers.
As for Palladio planners -- I think they are looking at K-Mart and Canned Food Outlet because of the communities south of 50. Roseville's neighbors include Granite Bay -- and someone has to keep those people well-heeled, right? Heh. That explains the Fountains complex going into Roseville.
However, I am aware that Rancho Cordova is looking to improve its image and is involved in a number of revitalization efforts in their community. Adding K-Mart and Canned Foods Outlet surely doesn't attract the "upwardly mobile" for the most part. Hopefully, retailers will see that Folsom is a suitable location for large anchor stores. And for heaven's sake -- Puh-lease bring us a Henry's or a Whole Foods!!!!

That was a joke. Apparently not obvious enough (as you weren't the only one who took it seriously), but let's be sure it's clear to everyone before the rumor of a Canned Food Outlet store opening in Palladio gets spread too far!

Yes, we all know the Canned Food Outlet is going into Jerry's other building in old-town. There's just no way Folsom could support two canned outlets. Don't spread such vicious rumors!

Those with good eyes will note Grocer, Cinema, and Bookstore are specifically called out.

On another note, I recently saw renderings and what not for the Galleria. Looks pretty impressive. It looks as if the Galleria will be the prime retail spot of Sacramento, if it isn't already. It's a completely different shopping experience than ever seen out here.
Palladio will also succeed as well as the Elk Grove Promenade, but I think they need to get moving along. If they want the prime retailers, they need to hurry up. I think Palladio and Elk Grove will compete pretty hard because any retailers in Roseville (i.e. Crate & barrel) would probably go to Elk Grove first just because of the distance from Elk Grove. I heard that both of them are still finalizing plans. If I remember right, Palladio is planning a mid-late 2008 opening. I think that is a bad idea because the Fountains in Roseville is planning early-mid 2008 opening and the Galleria in late 2008.
