Oh...I stumbled across *IT*. The infamous Cat killed bird thread. Ya know, after everything I heard about this I had expected to see bird guts and a wicked grin on the cat's face. I'm disappointed.

I got lost when people mentioned werewolves, pitbulls and el chupacabra. None of which are actually proven to be inherently vicious. Neither is the V's cat. I've met the cat. The thing that Andrea V's cat has in common with a werewolf, a pitbull and El Chupa is that they all have bad reputations. deadhorse.gif

Why do people feel that it is OK for a cat to run around without being on a leash, like a dog has to be. Cats come into my back yard and try to get the birds. I hit them with water from the garden hose when I see them. If they keep coming back they may not be going back home....

I don't know why cat's aren't on leashes. I don't have a cat. I have 2 dogs but one is about the size of a cat. And well, there just aren't many birds around where I live. There are huge turkeys, I'd be mighty impressed if I saw a house cat take down one of those.

Isn't it great finding cat crap in your landscape mulch?

----

My last pet rabbit just died last week. We have had as many as 6 rabbits at a time. I built them a nice enclosure outside that was air conditioned in the hot summer months and had a heater in the winter if it was necessary. They were always pampered. They never bothered anyone, they didn't bark and make a lot of noise, they did not mess up the inside furniture.

They had their own back yard run where they could get out, one at a time, and enjoy the grass and bushes.

I only have my simi-pet birds now and don't know if I will get any more pet rabbits or not.

So I don't hate animals, just don't like cats in my back yard.

Camay, I have never had a rabbit and was just wondering why only one could be out at a time. Also, I am living where we have snow right now. I put some carrots out for the small rabbits I see hiding under the bushes in my front yard. They won't eat them! What can I leave out for the bunnies? I did see them digging through the snow to eat some grass.

There are a ton of quail there too. They don't seem to like carrots either.

-------

They must not be to hungry...

They should eat carrots, possibly some lettuce or Alfalfa (hay)...

Also a dish of rabbit (alfalfa pellets) would be good too.

Good luck...

I've had cats come into my yard that didn't live to talk about it.

Score, my dogs 3 confirmed kills

While I feel sorry that someone lost their pet, Darwinism wins out. Gotta be a dumb cat to think it's a match for a pair of Malamutes.
I would rather be Backpacking

I am glad to see you are training your cats right.

You should start a bird killing school for cats. It could be next to the new dog hotel. Maybe you could write a book? Go on Ophra? Dr Phil??
You could start a line of cat camo clothing.
