I tried to go to the Bistro last night.

They wouldn't let me in.

Reservations only. The place was empty. summerteeth.gif yum.gif evilguy.gif

Ridiculous. If they serve burgers there, there's no way it should be a flipping hoity-toity reserved meals only kinda restaurant.

I WANT MY FREAKING KOBE BURGER!!!!!

So? It's still a flipping burger joint if they serve burgers--I see absolutely no reason --especially if it is the busiest day of the year--why they can't tell people--show up and we'll seat you.

mumble..mumble..mumble

I mean I got turned away with my kids in with me!!!

I'm so p/o I'll probably never go there, now.

I'd rather show up and be told there is a wait for X amount of minutes rather than told I can't eat at all, because they reserved all there tables for the whole evening. Dumb!!

I hope their restaurant burns to the ground.

Well, ok, maybe I don't hope that--but dang it--I really had a hankering for a quality burger last night.

Just because they serve a hamburger doesn't mean it's a burger joint. Now, I haven't been there, so I can't comment first hand, but from looking at the menu it doesn't seem to be a burger joint to me.

I was a hostess at an upscale restaurant for many years and Yes Valentines day is the busiest restaurant day of the year-hands down. Although the restaurant may have looked empty to you Im sure they had reservations coming in soon. The way restaurants like this work -they spread out the seating times so servers and cooks do not get slammed. And this has nothing to do with being understaffed. On a very busy nite such as Valentines you must spread dining times out to give great service. If they were to seat you and your kids you would have been taken someones table! Thats not fair to the person who planned ahead and made a reservation. What if you had called and made a reservation and when you got there they said " oh, we gave your table away to a walk-in" im sure you would be p/o big time. Anyway, just my .02 cents

Also, you mentioned you had the kids in tow. If they've got a restaurant booked full of valentines diners, I doubt their other customers would appreciate your restless hungry kids running around anxiously waiting for a table.

It's not a "burger joint", it's certainly an upscale hoity toity restaurant. Not exactly "kid friendly".

I'm pretty sure Supermom's kids are old enough to behave in the nicest of restaurants. I know at least one is in middle school.

Regarding the "burger joint" thing, yeah, Folsom Bistro cannot be classified as that. Somehow burgers have become gourmet. It's kind of funny that you can order a burger and fries and still be in a very fancy restaurant. rolleyes.gif Believe me, it's no $6 burger like Carl's Jr. talks about.

I want my burger!!

And yeah, my kids don't "run around" in a restaurant.

The flat side of my hand would meet their buttocks for that.

Besides the point the older child is in her " oh, everything is embarrassing and I have about thirty seconds left until the next time I primp my hair--oh, what did you need ?" kind of attitude and the other kid I have is constantly reminding ME which is the proper way to hold a knife-reach across the table, etc.

Nope--my kids could give some folks lessons on dining behavior in public.

uh-hum---> not like I'm bragging about my kids or anything whistle.gif ; And I do love 'em--lots wub.gif
But, if Mylos reaction is the reason they wouldn't let us in--then so help me--I'll never enter the doors of that establishment.

But I kinda think not---after all, someone else said they brought their kids there, right?

So, I'm gonna have to stick by my original assessment that the restaurant did a P_ _ _ _ poor job in preplanning-and did not inform the public of their intentions to have all their tables on that certain day as " Reserved ".

Poor management.

I'll second that. I like this restaurant. It's family owned and they are trying hard to please the public and create an upscale atmosphere. Valentine's Day is one of the, if not THE, busiest night of the year. They were not trying to offend you.

I've never had anything but excellent service there. Everything is freshly made. Even the coffee. Each cup is individually dripped and always delicious.

I haven't been to this place yet but Valentines day is a day to avoid going out to any place, without having prior reservations

I keep hearing a lot of good stuff and need to go try them out soon

do it. their website has their current menus. and, guess what, they even have a kids menu!!! not many upscale restaurants do. folsombistro.com

by the way, if you're getting a salad as a starter, the half salads are generous. and delicious!

Ok- Am I missing something here? Why would it be the restaurants fault? Why Poor management? YOU showed up on the busiest night in restaurant business WITHOUT a reservation! Why should they take a table away from someone who took the time to make a reservation- It does not make sense. The world does not revolve around just you...im done ranting...uggggh
