whine? I'm discussing censorship of public opinion and you consider that whining?
this 5 page thread is about people whining. give me a break.

I'm not attempting to portray anything rampant, but if an opinionated post is deleted, it's censorship. I certainly respect your opinion. I respect all opinions, especially those that are not censored.
sheep can be sheep, but I honestly cannot believe that anyone feels it is acceptable to delete another mans post, especially if there are no personal attacks or obscene items.

try again matlock.

should DarthVader's post be deleted?
just askin, i wasn't sure if it belonged under this topic or not.

you see, not everyone has the same opinion as to where things should posted in relation to a topic.

i saw no issue w/ my original posting being listed under a city council agenda, i thought it was a valid question.
Hi - I'm new here. for the record, I am not:

chipshot

this list will continue to grow as I am accused of being someone else.
Maybe someday I can take part in the FolsomFun of trying to determine the imposters!

Well, as an example, you have set yourself up to be deleted on the local politics board because your post has nothing to do with the subject of the city council meeting. That in and of itself would be the reason that post would be deleted. That is why I responded to it under this heading because it seemed more appropriate and so you wouldn't think there was some great conspiracy.

I'm sorry I said "whine." It's just that it's hard to see John unjustly catching a lot of flak for other people who seem to have nothing better to do than dig up trouble.

first of all...instead of deleting a post that is in an inappropriate place I assume it gets moved to the appropriate place. Call me niave if you must

secondly, discourse can be messy...it doesn't mean it has to be censored. If we all had exactly the same opinion on each item there would be no message boards/forums and only one political party. Hey...that sounds alot like communism to me!

Wrong, Einstein. I have 1 I.D., folks. ONE. Only need ONE. I'm not here to play dumb games and mess with the board like some "maturity-challenged" members. Oh, sure, I was banned for being negative and "not adding value" as John and Steve lamented, yet I've read alot lately of others doing exactly the same thing and having a TON of posts in a 24-hour period...like 60-70-80. I never approached those numbers, but I was banned anyway for a week. Go figure. There's a consistency issue here, but it appears everyone already knows that.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

I wonder if these posters come in waves. I remember there were a rash of annoying posters for a while. They went away and everything was back to semi-normal.

It's the same person. He uses anonymizers to register multiple accounts from various locations and continues to harass the forum. Then he settles on one for a while, until we ban that one, then a whole slew of new registrations under stupid names and the cycle starts over.

This user didn't get banned for having a picture of a woman, he was banned for repeated and ongoing disrespectful behaviour.

The same goes for deleting posts. Moderation is a variable job. A new account of this obviously harassing member will likely receive a lot stricter review than others. If their posts seem to be just the same ****-stirring we've seen in the past, it's likely to get the swift hammer faster than a "normal" person would.

In short, get a life dude!

I reread your post and don't see anything about the city council meeting except the city council being mentioned in the first line. And, yes, the city council also has rules and if you speak before them there is a line at the bottom of the agenda that specifically states that there is cause to throw you out for "disorderly conduct or for making personal, impertinent, or slanderous remarks, using profanity, becoming boisterous, threatening, or personally abusive while addressing said Council." So compared to the council rules I find this forum quite lenient and liberal.

I don't know why you wouldn't have posted under one of the other three or so topics that are more in line with your grievance.

Hey, I've been known to make smart aleck remarks, which if John decided to delete because he decided they were immature or not on topic I'd be okay with because it's his house, so to speak, and his house rules.

Please notice I'm not telling you to go away. I hope you find a way to peacefully coexist with all of us here on the forum. (Offer void if you are a multiple ID just making trouble.)

but to see someone banned due to a pix of Scarlet ....come on man...that is just wrong.
She is the embodiment of femininity. If someone here is appauled by the female form(and not even unclothed form) they have taken being a prude to new heights. IMHO

Who are you talking about?

And what Pic? You mean a pic from the cover of the story ?

No offense, I would hardly call the woman from the scarlett letter the embodiement of femininity.

I didn't see the post. Was this recent?

yes it was...apparently from the email he sent me he was banned due to posting a gif pix that had embedded within a pix of scarlet johanson. Hardly an offense to be banned in my opinion. Since any text he had was also deleted it is hard to say if he said some offensive things. I am not trying to stir the pot, but trying to get an understanding on what is a bannable offense. Apparently eye candy is one.

To clarify:

This latest iteration of this same problem user used AndreaV's picture as an avatar. He was requested to remove it, did not, and it was removed by moderators. He set his avatar to AndreaV's picture again, this time yellow. Moderators removed it and informed him to stop. He set it to the car/flash of AndreaV picture. That was removed, and *again* he was warned. Then he set it to car/Scarlett, just to push our buttons.

His continued misbehaviour and harassment on the forum was determined to warrant a 5 day suspension.

He wasn't banned because of Scarlet. He was banned because he's consistently annoying and immature.

This user is attempting to stir the pot, playing his censorship like a martyr. The fact is, most people here enjoy the forum, and the job the moderators are doing. The complaints I've heard lately aren't about rude posts from normal users or regular users confused why they were censored. "Normal" people are complaining about the ****-stirrer and his constant whining about censorship. Many don't realize, but some of the discussions back/forth about forum censorship are actually between two logins of this SAME immature person! He's nuts, he chats with himself!

My advice: Ignore him, we'll keep banning his accounts, he'll come on as some new member griping about how so-and-so was banned for censorship. Try and have a good time despite this immature character, and let one of the mods know if you have a real complaint.

well...if you are insinuating that Im the crazy person...that is not true. I have this ID and only this ID. I merely brought up the email that this person sent me. I only discuss censorship when it appears that there is some going on. I view this dialogue as that of the canary in the mineshart. When the chirping stops it is time to get out.

No offense, but that didn't make any sense. It sounds crazy.

As for someone else Pm you--I kinda wonder why.

You haven't been very active on this forum.
Perhaps you should take a breath from this person for a few days and see what comes. Give yourself a chance take another perspective. And I'll admit--I found the person creating an avatar from the V's pic offensive because I am sure that that was not the intentioned use of it--and continuing to use the pic after being asked to stop was not just immature but stubbornly refusing to accept the Mod's rules.

That person needed to take a breath and re-think.

I hope the person comes back and can add nicely to the forum.

first off, if you know anything about warnings the canary was how the miners were warned there was danger from noxious gases. So the analogy I was using was that when my chirping stopped about censorship...it meant it was time to leave as big bother had taken over. I can draw you a pix if you'd like. :-)

I don't know why that person choose me to PM unless it was due to the threads where I raised concerns about censorship. I don't know the PMer at all, just brought the PM here to be discussed as adults. I am ambivalent as to his posting Andrea's pix..but when asked to stop, apparently he substituted another pix. That IS NOT A BANNING OFFENSE in my mind. It shows creativity. WTF is wrong with a bit of humor and creativity?

Advising me to take a breath is a not so thinly veiled way of telling me to get lost. I don't intend to leave unless the powers that be kick me off. And since I have not done any bannable things that I know of(although I have tried to pin this down exactly, I have been unsuccessful at getting the exact rules) it appears that I will be allowed(for now) to stay and continue this refreshing discourse with you and your fellow denizens.
