Hi Fire,

I'm unsure how to understand your post. I'm not clear if you are dripping with sarcasm in it or not. I find it confusing trying to know your real meaning. Maybe that's just me.

I think there was a tad bit of sarcasm, and a bit of truth.

We can't have it all flowers and bunnies, which I prefer over cupcakes and rainbows.

Dissent is great, berating people and calling forum members idiots is not.

I can understand if you want someone to name who they are if they are causing trouble, that can be annoying. I don't know if I have told anyone on here yet that I used to be a preschool teacher in the folsom area, because in the past I'm sure I didn't want anyone to ask me any uncomfortable questions regarding former coworkers and such. Berating people on here is definitely not okay, but I think its alright to have fun sometimes.

I have to agree especially since I mentioned all of the below, save one:

- A priest molests a child - That's negative. How dare you bring that up?
- A cop commits a crime - That's negative. You cop hater you.
- A teacher molests a child - negative. You don't support teachers.

As for Darthvader-- I think he is pretty tame compared to the way he was when he first came on the forum. He's pretty much chilled out: at least for a lord of the Dark Sith.

I got at least one PM when I signed on assuming that I was an alternate ID for Darthvader, or some kind of counter-troll. I'm not. My name is Dan and I live in Natoma Station. It pissed me off a little and taught me a lesson about the present nature of this forum that a new user was instantly assumed to be a troll. It was actually meeting several members that kept me on the forum; otherwise I'd have left it pretty quickly. There are a lot of people here who get their jollies by working each other up into a froth and it gets old fast.

The user name is even a Star Wars joke and nothing to do with politics. I've been using it or "Lefty Skywalker" for years on Usenet, blogs, social networking sites, and motorcycle forums, since about the time Episode 2 came out.

I'll be honest, I figured you were just holding yourself up to be the anti-darth. I think it was just a timing thing. Then again, I never voiced that. I just thought it was kind of funny.

And what you think of me is going to be permanently colored by what you therefore presumed about who I am, what I think, etc. etc. Kind of a poser for me. But it's the mood of the forum.

Not in the least. Just as it hasn't been by what I initially thought about other posters I was wrong about early on. I just thought it was a funny name.

Perceptions aren't permanent at all. Especially online, they're based on what one knows about another user, and upon your very first post other users knew very little about you, except your username, which bore an unfortunate resemblance to another user (in a way that might have made the choice intentional, either by that user or someone else).

Nonetheless, even after just your first few posts, I think it was pretty evident given the manner in which you posted that you were definitely NOT that other user, nor had you chosen that name because of that other user, but rather you were here to bring useful and legitimate conversation.
