Looks like the cops put out a big programmable sign in front of Castle Park (like the one that tells you your speed along side streets) that says the park closes 1 hour after dark and punks will get tickets. Now that summer is over and these kids may even go to school it seems like too little too late but I guess it couldn't hurt.

I saw the sign too. Has it helped and how did you get the PD to respond to you like that? I've never seen that before, in terms of the approach. Al

Man you are funny. The adult rule only applies to homeless people so that's why the cop went easy on the dad. I've seen lot's of adults there late at night playing hide and go seek but the kids with the bowie knives scared them all off:(

HA! HA! HA! HA!

I just think it's funny that the kids can not play hide and go seek on their own once the sun goes down.

yes adults need to adhere to the rules too
but I gotta ask, why would a parent take his kid out to a park at 11pm at night? thats kinda wierd to be out at that late time at night with a child

Whoa. Slow down there judgemental guy!
It's not a crime for a member of the Council of Elders to take seven boys of age ("no more, no less, seven shall be the number, and the number shall be seven") from the settlement and into a wooded area at night for the traditional Circle of the Youngers Chant of Empowerment before they are sent on their own to bring back the sacrifical Beast of the Reeds (I believe your people call them "frogs") for the Gaia Offering.
Our people brought this most solemn of traditions from the old country. It has always been thus.
But hey. I've said too much. It's not really any of your business anyway, and isn't your concern. Just suffice to say that I don't judge your ceremonial rites of manhood and offering of loyalty and devotion to the earth goddess (blessed be), so don't you go judging ours.
ps: You aren't one of those "Save the Frogs" freaks are you?

heheh oh I'm not against it - I was just trying to figure out why... but now that you've explained the ritual I completely understand

and hey frogs are good, they taste just like chicken

Somebody suggested part of the problem in policing is in the design of the park. It appears the dirt that was dug out to put in the structures was piled on top of the dirt in front forming a lip and therefore blocking the view from the street.
As officers patrol and drive by, and they do, they can't see into the park without stopping and getting out and walking up the grass, by then the teens are gone out the back.
Teens are very creative telling parents they are at others houses or sneaking out at night. With so many single parents households its easier to sneak out as well.
I'd call the police EVERY time you hear voices after dark in the park.
When I called the cops, they drove up to the park with lights off and coasted down the street. They took the teens completely by surprise! It was awesome!
Tom - you must live by me - I am by Pruit park as well. Just the other day I was walking my dog and there were 3 cop cars kicking out carloads of teens. Keep calling, don't give up! They will get tired of getting chased off and go elsewhere. If they keep getting chased from park to park, maybe they will go home! ;-)
