Call the District. It is my understanding that they are working to reinstate high school bus routes. I know they have been working very hard with their transportation department to minmize routes with low ridership, combine routes, and reinstate the high school routes.

There is indeed a proposal on this Thursday's agenda that would reinstate most high school transportation. Thursday, 6 p.m. FHS Library.
It is likely to get board approval since they are proposing cuts of the same amount in other transportation areas. If approved, a ConnectEd message will go out to parents so they can do their last minute planning before Monday.
Beware, though, that combining routes might mean students have to walk further to get to a bus stop. Also, I don't believe that students on a "choice" option will have a bus to take them, for example, from Empire Ranch to FHS and back. If you elect to send your child to a school other than the assigned location you likely need to find your own transporation -- like I do.

Back in your day, you had to ride a circus bear bike 20 miles uphill both ways in the snow, right?
I'm with the "stop coddling" crowd too. If by 9th grade your kid has not figured out how to avoid traffic, what the heck? And this town is awesome for bicycles most of the year.

The one time my husband tried to bike to work, he was the victim of a hit and run. With that experience, and knowing how many times my car has been nearly hit by stop sign and red-light runners in Folsom, I vote for the "Neighborhood Carpool" option.
My husband (and the father of my 5 young kids) died recently, so PLEASE don't anyone make disrespectful comments about his ability as a bike rider. Thanks.

Little by little.

Now we're working on getting at least a little help into the elementary libraries.

OI---What's with boys in middle school? Do they all loose their collective brains?
Boy was picking on my girl the other day.....
Another girl tells him to knock it off.....
He calls he a B....h
Then others get involved and spitting on the bus commences (at each other)
The girls all say my kid just sat (and tried to stay out of aim)
But how disgusting is that?

Maybe you should let administrators know? Were they spitting AT her? If they were, it's harassment, and those boys need to be counseled accordingly. They probably don't realize they can be suspended for such conduct. Middle school kids have trouble with judgment because that part of their brains is still developing and hits a spurt around age 12. Or maybe they do know they can get suspended and foolishly think they won't get caught. I asked my son about this. He said he wasn't near where they were sitting. I hope that's true!!
If my son, seventh grader or no, did anything like that, there'd be hell to pay. I have noticed that he's having a lot of trouble with judgment. I saw this for years when I taught seventh grade, but when it's your own kid who does unexplainable things, Ugh! It's just so much harder to deal with!
