We also ate there on Saturday, but we went with the bratwurst sampler, the potato pancakes, and the spaetzel. We loved the potato pancakes and the spaetzel, the saurkraut was fantastic, but we were confused by one of our bratwurst. I swear it was an Oscar Meyer hot dog. The other four were very tasty, but the hot dog was a strange choice. Would have been better we thought to just give us the 4 quality ones.

Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back, and next time, we're having das boot smile.gif

Watch out, Dave's on snarky patrol.

At least I wasn't the first to get this comment today.

Noog, Noog!

As one of those friends, I need to correct the record; I did not sissy out. The cheese burgers were excellent, without a doubt. The meat was very flavorful. My only complaint was about the amount of mustard on the sandwich. Way too much. Even after scraping a bunch off, it was pretty powerful. I loved the fries. Big, fat fries that taste like potato and not oil. Love the fries.

The place is beautiful. They've done a wonderful job.

Like I told my dining companions, the menu reminded me of eating at my very German grandmother's as a kid. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the goulash, as well as a few others. And the German cake. Can have dreams about that cake....

Someone on here mentioned that they ordered the bratwurst sampler plate and had a "hot dog". This was most likely the "frankfurter"--yes, also German. Frankfurters tend to have a bit more flavor than the typical American Oscar Meyer-like hot dog.

olym = Dave Rosen. Don't look at me.

Back on topic, I swung by with some friends for lunch yesterday. Sadly, after 2 days of burgers, I decided to go for a meatball lunch special. Had a hard choice, but settled on the Salisbury which were delicious! My friends both had burgers, but sissied out on the cheese, and put the sauerkraut on the side. They thoroughly enjoyed their meals, too.

Definitely will be back!

True dat homes, as I also grew up eating my very German grandmother's cooking. Tasted exactly like an Oscar Meyer hot dog though-mealy, bland, Oscar Meyer hotdog. Frankfurters are delicious, and in no way compare to the hot dog with a first name smile.gif

Funny you mention that.

Now I know a good Bratwurst when I have one, but I take offense to the above implication.

And that's because Oscar Meyer isn't typical, they have a very unique taste I like. And that is compared to the typical tasting Ball Parks, Armour, or any generic brand like Bar S, Lady Lee, Kirkland, etc...

Oscar Meyer's have a very unique flavor. It doesn't mean I think it beats a good Brat, just that it isn't like all the others.

To Lornaknits, I am the (gentleman) that bought you a glass of wine for your special day, but that not withstanding was after you bought the bar a round of drinks ! I again thank you. And now that we have had the pleasure of meeting, would like the suspension of the term (gentleman) in reference to myself as it could be detrimental to my desires to advance in a political party !! HEHE

Well, if I'd known it was you Carny, maybe I wouldn't have said "Gentleman". <teasing>
I didn't buy any drinks. Allen was being generous with our crowd. He brought out small bowl of the red clam chowder for several of us to try. (Thanks Allen, for everything!)

Did all of you see the promotional flyers and postcards that Steve (guy with laptop) was creating? He took some beautiful photographs of the restaurant, did some cool trick with the lighting or something. I hope others saw his work, I'm amazed by it.
