Do you have kids? If you do not, then quit talking. If you do, it is your own thing whether to have them wash their hands or not. But think about other people when then have gross snotty hands.

You don't have to have kids to know that antibacterial everything create superbugs. I have two children and agree with Darthvader. I hate the over sterilization that is happening in society. I agree. It causes super bugs.

When my 20 month old was born, I had people ask me: "If I wash my hands, can I hold her?" I asked them to NOT wash their hands, as I wanted to build up her immune system. People would look at me like I was crazy. Let there dirty hands touch my precious, clean little child??? *eyeroll* Please. Seriously, yes please!

Soap and water is all that's needed, IMHO.

Despite the (censored) and span houses in t.v. commercials, I imagine most real families have plenty of germs.

HA! I am cracking up at the auto-censoring of your post. That's funny.

I agree. There's something to that Nietzsche saying.

I have a family member that goes to the doctor at the drop of a hat and is constantly taking antibiotics and comes down with every cold that goes around.

I'm rarely sick, rarely visit the doctor's office, and haven't had to take an antibiotic in years. I also believe in hand washing with good old plain soap and water.

Regarding hand washing:

1) Antibacterial soap doesn't do anything to kill viruses.

2) It is the act of vigorously rubbing hands while washing that gets rid of viruses. Alternately, it is recommended that you use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

3) Most people do not thoroughly wash their hands -- which requires vigorous rubbing/cleaning on the top, palms, wrists, in between fingers and finger nails.

4) It is important to not touch the faucet handles by hand when finished, as you'll only pick back up whatever germs were there/you put there before washing. Use a towel or paper towel to operate the faucets.

5) When leaving a public restroom, use a paper towel to open the door.

That's not what I said or implied, but if it pleases you to go to negative and sarcastic places, have at it.

That was not very nice. You need to not be so mean. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Well, you got hammered for this one, and even though quite often I find you over the top pessimistic, I'm right with you on this one.

Heck, I know my true behavior will drive almost any germ freak crazy and send them running if they knew, how rarely i wash my hands and how often handwashing for me is no soap, just the water. Even when I shower, I never scrub with a wash cloth. I get my hands soapy to wash the stinky sweaty parts of my body and shampoo the grease out of my hair (I'm cursed with an oily scalp). I rarely get sick, and my wife always complains that when I get sick, I never get as sick as she does or have it last as long. I once ate a potato chip I dropped on the floor of my friends car yesterday. Yes, I saw it and picked it up after it had been on the floor of a pick-up truck for >24 hours. Guess what, i didn't get sick.

You know, you might aswell save yourself the time and not bother washing your hands if you don't use soap. I'm not judging how disgusting that is or isn't. But it is basically a pointless waste of time to just pretend to wash your hands.

Also, friends car flooring has a 72hour rule. I just ate a couch Cheerio. Wonder how long that's been there.
