That's really odd... I just checked with my insurance company and 2 others and the comp/collision on the Corvette is TRIPLE the WRX...

It is on the convettable specifically. It has the smaller engine.

Car insurance can be really wacky, so it is possible your quotes show totally different trends.

I pay $70-ish a month for MC insurance, but know people who pay $45 per year.... there are many, many factors.

HWY 17 is a two laned (on bothsides) Highway and not a two laned country road with ALOT lower speed limit for obvious reasons. Just my two cents.

Yeah, it's a really nice drive and not as bad as its portrayed. Just as long as you're going 50mph and not 80 lol.

Personally I was never one of those teens who thought I was invincible or did dangerous stuff, but I also know how it must feel to be on the road and especially having fun with your buddies (I think alot of kids wouldn't do stuff if it were just them alone, but we all probably give in to peer pressure or cliques at some point, even subconsciously).

Long story short I still don't have a driver's licence (peripheral vision problem) but as a kid obviously I didn't know it would prevent me from driving so I used to burn rubber, ride and do wheelies on shopping carts when I was 12 or 13 just to get it out of my system, lol. At the time I thought "ah I'll be driving in about 4 years and I'd rather do it with a little rolling thing than with a ton vehicle that could kill someone". It actually worked 'cuz by my late teens I wasn't doing that stuff anymore, or trying to show off for people on the same extent with anything else.

I'm kinda joking around with that, but on a serious note maybe kids (before driving age) should be encouraged to do anything like that in a safe area (say go kart racing... hey that's more fun anyway!) just to possibly prevent a horrible tragedy like this. sad.gif

Nothing good ever happens with kids that age at 2:00 in the morning!

Good ole Hwy 17 is much safer than Salmon Falls. I have driven that road 100's of times and there were more than a few times back in high school that the game was to double the speed limit in the corners. If it was posted 30 you do 60mph, 40 you do 80, etc... Its amazing we didn't kill ourselves when younger doing stupid stuff, but thats what kids do. Its a part of growing up. Heck I even drove that road buzzed or drunk a few dozen times when driving drunk was even acceptable to the cops.

Negative.

Unless you are talking about a 2009 or a 2010, in which case the coupe and convertible both come with a 6.2 V8, but the coupe has the OPTION for a supercharger where the convertible does not. Every corvette since at least 1990 has had the same engine unless it is a ZR1 or a Z06.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. People who know nothing about what they are talking about seem to have all of the answers and love to jump to conclusions.

Not meaning to single you out headshrink, you just provided me with a convenient example.

P.S. - The reason why a convertible has lower rates than is a coupe is that the convertible is less common, so it is involved in accidents less often.

Glad I could help illustrate your point.... but in spite of perhaps getting a technical detail wrong, my point remains.... this is what an article said, and I verified it through getting my own personalized quote. I really don't care how big the engine is, unless I am actually going to buy one.
