Thats ok. Once one does something so stupid to endanger a child you are nothing to me. I pretty much can clump her in with child molesters in my book. They deserve to die. Thats me though.

Wow thats a bit over the top. I have no problem punishing her, but not the children or her husband...at least any more than they have already been.

The problem is, is she didn't just destroy her life. She destroyed her kids, her husbands, the other driver.... hell, people on the scene might have emotional problems because of her. I'm pretty certain the other driver has a real good civil case now and can own her family, but yeah, she hasn't done anything to them.

So your real solution is to execute her? Really? Not just in a blowing off steam kinda way? BTW, I am saying that they don't need to be traumatized any more than they have been.

That's possible, but so is shock. Being in a state of shock can make people do things very much against what would be though of as normal behavior. I know one girl that was driving a boat when an accident happened. She was in a state of shock, but was able to do what she needed to do which was drive the boat back to shore so the injured passenger could get medical help. Once everyone was back on shore and adults were in control, the teenage girl lost it. She broke into uncontrollable hysterics for about 15-30 seconds and then fainted and fell unconsious to the ground.

Her husband says he's never known her to drink and drive.. that she's a Christian. So Christians don't sometimes drink and drive? That's a new one.
Being a Christian has nothing to do with this. Christians drink too.

I have back problems which can get very painful, should I drive while I'm taking pain medication? How about should I drink as well?
I have enough sense NOT to even drive that way when I'm alone in my car!
I heard on the news she will very likely be charged with felony drunk driving, but not sure that covers all her offenses here. I think she deserves the maximum charges because of the children in the car. Sure, her husband and kids will suffer if that happens but they might die the next time she decides to drive this way. Better to teach her a lesson than go light on her and see her do this crap again.
If I were her kids I wouldn't EVER want to drive with Mommy again! Or with ANYBODY!!!!!

Ummm. I don't think anyone is saying to go light on her, only that they spare her the FREAKING DEATH PENALTY.

Exactly my point. It was odd the way he just threw that in... as a defense.

A break can be partial and it may or may not sever the spinal cord. And yes, the combination of alcohol and pain meds ~ not to mention the adrenaline rush of the accident ~ can mask pain.

What if her ten year child dies? What punishment should she get then????
You know he is fighting for his life now, with bleeding on the brain. Hopefully, he'll make a full recovery. But what if he doesn't?
What if he is forever mentally impaired or won't ever have the full use his arms and legs, due to brain damage?
Not saying she should be executed, but maybe spend a long time in jail.

Yes. A long time in jail. Hell, the rest of her life in jail. But you really want to put those kids through seeing their mother executed on top of the trauma they have already experienced? I think that is too much. Never did I say the sentence should be light, we should be lenient or anything of that nature. In my posts from earlier today, I said if DUI or something along those lines was involved, we should throw the book at her.
Geez people. Some of you make such sweeping, grandios statements regarding things then when someone else tries to bring you back to reality about our legal system you can't hop on your high horse fast enough to justify it. I mean, if nobody dies, executing her isn't even an eye for an eye...
