This restaurant is outstanding in all aspects. The food was cooked to perfection, the service excellent and prompt. I had the rack of lamb, my wife had the beef tenderloin, each came with soup, salad and a desert that were all very very good. I'm really impressed with this place just with my first visit. There are few restaurants around that comes close.
I had high expectations for this restaurant and they exceeded them all! The food was perfect, the quality, the spices, everything cooked to perfection, it was truly a great experience to dine at Chez Daniel, this place has just jumped to my #1 spot in town, I can't wait to go back again.
Quick note: this is not a place for large parties or for kids - the tables are setup for 4 people and 2 people, the decor and ambiance is a romantic setting (white table cloth with roses). This is the type of place you take your loved one for a very nice intimate meal to enjoy for an hour or so. This is a culinary experience, not a food feast at BJ's.
Dinner for 2 (soup, salad, entree, desert) with a bottle of nice wine and tip was $110, and it was worth every single penny. This was one of the best meals I've had all year.

I returned to Chez Daniel last Thursday with three friends. Excellent food & service!
Good to hear - and your only posts on this Forum EVER have been for Chez Daniel.... So while I DO want to go there
I take your notes with a grain of salt...and a pinch of pepper.

We arrived at 7:00pm with reservations. I gotta say that the outside of the 'strip mall' and the inside of the restaurant are night and day. There were only about 3 other tables occupied which was nice for us. The restaurant was small and tastefully decorated.
It took quite a while for us to even get water but when the waiter came to ask for our wine we joked about getting it quickly and he laughed at himself. When 3 of us wanted to order the scallops though he said "At this time of night, we only have one left" At 7:15? They also only had 2 French Onion soups to serve. The salad dressing was so delicious-funny note- he warned us that they did not serve ranch or Thousand Island when we ordered. We all loved our meals though-salmon, steak, and the waiter brough us 4 desserts to share which were amazing. I don't remember the exact total of the bill but do remember it being quite reasonable for the quality of the meal.
Daniel came out as we were leaving and walked us out door thanking us for coming in which was nice.
We will definitely be back. I hope he does well in Folsom.

Keep trying, especially during dinner hours. You'll get them. It's a small team there.

They don't answer the phone unless you can speak French.

It's worth the wait, this place is one of the best restaurants in town, comparable only to Bidwell Street Bistro

Dave, I respect your opinions on this forum, but comparing Chez Daniel to BSB is way off. I really like BSB, but they very recently received some VERY poor ratings in the food reviews (like one and a half on a scale of 5).
Is Wendy still their chef?
I would not stop going to BSB, but I feel the comparison is off the mark. The next time I can afford to go to Chez Daniel, I certainly will. My last experience there was incredible. Linda

Don't believe everything you read in the Bee and especially from their restaurant reviewer Blair Anthony R.
BSB has been in Folsom for over ten years for a reason.

Wild boar sausages + Duck Confit + Profiteroles = YUM!
The hostess that evening even left a voicemail the next day to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. The prices are reasonable by themselves, but the 10% Intel discount makes it even better!
