I remember when Bill Maher used to be funny too...

I think both Rush and Maher have lost their comedic ability because they are just so filled with hate for the other side... it just completely consumes them and their commentary.

I think CNN is the best balanced news source out there. They are no where overtly obvious with bias like MSNBC or Fox. I think Anderson Cooper is a true international journalist and John King does a great job analyzing elections. Maybe that's why their ratings are suffering... they don't pander to the left or the right. The left flocks to MSNBC and the right races straight to Fox. CNN is caught in the middle trying to do actual journalism.

I think CNN is trying to be balanced, but some of their hosts fall short. I was watching Ali Velshi interviewing several people about the budget and taxes. The guests were talking about fiscal responsibility and the budget process. After they were gone the next segment went something like "and this is how I believe things will happen" and then gave the democratic party line on things. Up to the point it was a fact filled show.

Good for him. I'm glad he gets a pass from you because he frequently reaffirms that he is truly a "libertarian".

Whatever he is... it doesn't mean he doesn't spew complete hatred (primarily aimed at conservative causes). Do you find it funny that he basically told Sean Hannity to commit suicide? Do you find it funny that he called Sarah Palin a "dumb tw*t" or a "c***"? Is that what passes as humor these days? I guess I'm old fashion then because this sounds like pure hatred. I don't get a good laugh at crude crap that he spews.

Both he and Rush should be embarrassed about some of the things that they say. Sometimes I wonder if its just for ratings and to get people worked up. At least I hope so.

Saying it does not make it so. Bill Maher is no libertarian. He sympathizes more with the European Socialist than the Libertarian.

Both him and Rush could disappear and we'd all be better off. Same with Hannity, Maddow and other political cheerleaders. Just give me the unfiltered facts and let me figure out the rest...

But if you want to say I am showing hate for a poster who consistently went out of her way to post hateful racist stuff that had to be constantly deleted, then so be it.

Maxine told me she's not coming back. I think it sucks that a regular who posted weekly was booted on the complaints of someone who's only here once every few months

Not everyone may agree with her posts but at least she was passionate and cared about the future. Even if you libs don't agree with her I appreciated that she showed her passion and posted regularly - not just once every few months like you libs do, and then you guys get all high and mighty about it casting accusations from your lofty perches.

Actually, Maxine's suspension is mentioned or at least implied in this topic - I certainly came to the same conclusion.

I don't agree that you simply need to be passionate and regular (persistent) for your "contributions" to the conversation to matter. Just check out the crackpots on some city street corners for these qualities. You need to be reasonable and constructive as well.

John or the Mods -- Didn't the forum have an Ignore or Block option to block postings from other members?

It was good for those who enter politics or other controversal threads but block someone's posts that you dont care to see.

I don't really take into account anyone's political affiliation when I choose to reply or not reply. I could really care less. The problem nowadays is people do take it to heart when someone differs from their opinions. Just like religion and race, politics is a very polarizing issue. I don't really care about your political views, and I hope you don't care about mine. I care about issues. If you want to be left leaning and proclaim we need immigration reform, so be it. Doesn't mean you're a party hopper. And on the other side, if you want to be far right yet promote greater welfare expansion, WHO CARES??? If the children in Congress could revert back to their elementary school days and remember to try and work things out, we'd all be better off. Unfortunately the freshmen reps are given an 'orientation' to party voting on their first day and their opinions and votes hadn't better run askew of party lines. What's that about?

I think people label something reasonable and constructive only when it fits into their line of thinking. Fans of Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh are prime examples, they think the other party are crackpots while their own guy spews nonsense.

It's all a matter of perspective, party affiliation (unfortunately) and the willingness (or not) to be open minded and respectful of others opinions whether we agree or not

I think normally I am a pretty consistent and regular member on MyFolsom. Only recently, while dealing with the death of a family member, have I been absent.
I rarely label people-I think you are targeting the wrong person here. But, if you think not, so be it. I did label Maxine a racist after she:
!) posted a story for a KKK run site (I tried to give her pass on that by asking her if she realized it was a KKK site)
2) she went on about the Trayvon story then clicked into stories about blacks coming into peoples homes (she said she doesn't feel safe in Folsom because of blacks
3) she constantly harping about the welfare programs are all President Obama's fault (she insinuated several times it is because he is black)
There were many other examples. But I have made my point. And I only complained I think, 2x-about her posts. But many others jumped in before I could on several posts she made. Which tells you I am not the only one who had issues with her spouts. Whereas you don't like my posts because I can't stand child abusers, you like her posts because she doesn't like people with black skin. I actively speak out on, to promote human trafficking awareness. What was she doing? Breaking down trust in the community via race hate?
I don't get it. But whatever. If you really want to say that is a political leaning, then that is your opinion. I prefer to call it a humanity leaning.

Oh, and stop calling me names affiliated with political leanings. It is immature, I certainly don't treat you in that manner. Nor do I even read, or listen to political rants from any radio stations. If I want humor or drama on radio I listen to the 95.5 or the Dawn and whats it show..... But usually I just stick to my Beatles CDs. nice smooth music on the way to work.
