You know what ws the stupidest aspect of the Journal's decision? The map doesn't include long rifles or shotguns...only pistols. So the type of guns that the libs are going apesh** over weren't even listed on the map.

to the best of my knowledge, fully automatic weapons have been outlawed for a long time at the Federal level. When did Ca outlaw automatic rifles?
Im curious if the ratio per capita deaths by guns has significantly lessened since that time, in california
CA did not outlaw semi-auto, but they did pass a crappy "assault weapon" ban that is based on appearance and not on mechanical operation.
Now, did anyone read the Sac Bee today? Article about how guns have increased by millions in CA while gun violence has decreased over the last 10 years.

You can own a full auto if you can afford it. Totally legal to do. I think the transfer stamp is a $200 fee for a full auto (machine gun). The problem with machine guns is that they are very expensive and rare. If you have a legal BAR, Thompson, or MG42 from WW2 (registered before the 1968 NFA law) they are easily worth $25,000 and more. I think a German STG 44 is worth $50,000. Chris

Yes, I know if you get a special permit, you can own some fully automatic weapons, but it is neither cheap or easy and you won't find them for sale at your local sporting goods store. In general, it is illegal to own one.You can own a full auto if you can afford it. Totally legal to do. I think the transfer stamp is a $200 fee for a full auto (machine gun). I suppose you [mod edit] also wish that law enforcement had no guns either.
But I must admit, you amuse me.

No special permit needed, just fill out the form, buy the weapon, and pay the $200 tax. California might be a different story though....... There are some newly made full automatics that go for $6000 to $7000 I believe.
See here: http://www.atf.gov/f...chine-guns.html
And I do have a have a federal firearms license for curio and relic rifles, it's called an "03 FFL". I can purchase rifles older than 50 years of age and have them sent right to my door through the US Mail or Fed Ex.... No waiting period, no going through a gun store, no fees, oh the joy....! Chris

Still no one answer question. When did law take effect, and has mass murders in the US dipped since that law took place?
Mass murders have nothing to do with laws-- most are done with stolen or 2nd party guns....

ok, well that is your belief.Mass murders have nothing to do with laws-- most are done with stolen or 2nd party guns....
the question is... has mass killings gone up since laws on fully auto fire arms was tightened down in Ca?
Next question...Has mass killings in CA gone down since the beginning of semi-auto gun control laws in CA?
Logically the next question--will any more laws really stop mass killlings?
I dont think any of the gun lovers or the pro gun control persons on this forum want to compare historical numbers in ca.
Why is that?

Liberals are "emotions-based" and "feelings-based"...they are not "facts-based". That's why they flounder around when they try to argue their point.
Liberals also tend to feel superior to others...which is a whole 'nother thread to have someday...or maybe not.
