Crazy Report for April 18 -
Yesterday, our president called the new Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to congratulate him for winning the election over the weekend. Perhaps our president didn't realize it, but Mr. Erdogan became the head of an authoritarian form of government because sweeping changes were also approved by the voters. These changes all but eliminate democracy in Turkey and give the president singular authority over any number of institutions including the press, the courts, finances, and law making bodies.
In sending congratulations, the USA joins only these countries who did the same - Qatar, Guinea, Djibouti and the Palestinian militant movement Hamas. Is this the company we now keep?
Why is Mr. Trump seemingly delighted at the win of an authoritarian government? Could it be that it's his dream for America? Think about it...

MSNBC Headline: Racist white trash again allowed to visit white house, black people no longer welcomed. The not so smart Sarah Palin along only to make the racist, innocent animal killing Ted Nugent and confused right wing, hard rock musician Kid Rock a sandwich.
Real headline: Former governor of Alaska Sara Palin, NRA activist, musician, and constitutional scholar Ted Nugent, and successful recording artist Kid Rock pose in front of the picture of some random lady in the white house.

The jury is IN. Trump is psychotic. "Malignant Narcissism."
Classic signs:
1. Scapegoating minorities (immigrants)
2. Degrading rivals
3. Fostering strong-man cult with fear and anger
4. Believes he can solve problem if only people would trust him
5. Re-inventing history and disregard for facts.
The word is out. This video is approaching 1 million views in just 10 weeks.

The crazy report for April 9 - (short and sweet today)
"Crazy persists for one simple reason. The president has surrounded himself with a dedicated staff whose job is to defend non-reality. Essentially, their job is to go on TV and pretend Trump didn't say what everybody just heard him say.
Spicer has said, "You can't take everything the president says literally." Conway made her comment about "alternate facts". Nunez said, "I think a lot of things he says, you guys sometimes take literally." It's like the football team telling everyone the QB just threw a touchdown, when the ball is still on the 30 yd line.
The result is a substantial lack of credibility. Very dangerous in a volatile world.
Mental health experts claimed the President was “paranoid and delusional”, and said it was their “ethical responsibility” to warn the American public about the “dangers” Mr Trump’s psychological state poses

I dunno, the whole idea that other people might be a little crazy, in some simple-minded, biased way
1. Just doesn't cut it as an argument for the legitimacy of Trump, and
2. Doesn't even come close the authority of trained, well-respected psychiatrists assessing the Crimson Weasel as a Loony Tune!

Trump and the Pathology of Narcissism
Diagnosing the president was off-limits to experts – until a textbook case entered the White House
1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., "Nobody builds walls better than me"; "There's nobody that respects women more than I do"; "There's nobody who's done so much for equality as I have").
2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love ("I alone can fix it"; "It's very hard for them to attack me on looks, because I'm so good-looking").
3. Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people or institutions ("Part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich").
4. Requires excessive admiration ("They said it was the biggest standing ovation since Peyton Manning had won the Super Bowl").
5. Has a sense of entitlement ("When you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy").
6. Is interpersonally exploitative (see above).
7. Lacks empathy, is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings
and needs of others ("He's not a war hero . . . he was captured. I like people that weren't captured").
8. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her ("I'm the president, and you're not").
9. Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes ("I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters").

Vinny - I spent some time at the Science rally today and interviewed some people. When I get some time, I'm going to write an article on why scientists came out of the lab to make a political statement. It's very unusual. 500 years ago, scientists would have done no such thing. They would have been tossed into prison or worse. Galileo was detained and suffered perpetual scrutiny when he showed that the planets actually rotate around the sun and not vice versa. His was a controversial view at the time. We've come a long way since then, but not far enough.

Vinny - One of the issues is that science has become far more sophisticated than it was 500 years ago, and people have a tendency to be skeptical of what they don't understand. We see this every day in the news.
The people I interviewed yesterday fell into two groups. One was comprised of people with a scientific education and/or worked in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) related job. the other group were people who didn't have a STEM background, but were supporters of scientific and evidence based political policies. Even though this group was sadly lacking in science knowledge (one woman didn't know what caused tides), they were supportive of the scientific community. they were rational, thankfully. But we have a massive failure of our educational systems. A problem no one seems interested in tackling.

Yes, the educational system is our major tool for bringing awareness to the problem.
I hope in your article too that you tackle the complex of cognitive dissociation, where people simply don't want to learn the truth because it upsets their world view and their sense of identity.
If you point out that Trump policies mostly hurt the people that voted for him, they will just fall back on:
"Oh, Clinton bad, Trump good. There is no way I could vote for her" Even if it means Trump destroys the environment.

Crazy report for April 23 –
Last week Jeff Sessions (Trump appointee for AG) exposed his frustration with Hon. Derrick Watson, a federal judge in Hawaii who blocked Trump’s immigration order last month.
Sessions said, "I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power."
IMO, his little gaffe shows his belief that Hawaii is a remote place inhabited by a primitive culture with little knowledge of national and global issues. Be assured that Hawaii is fully aware. They got a substantial exposure on December 7, 1941. Oh, and by the way, it’s a state.
I’ve thought that a clever line of follow-up questions might have revealed Sessions’ naïve and parochial view of the world. But he was on the Mark Levine Show, where “clever” is a stranger.

Hey, talk about "Crazy" . . .
This "Art of the Deal" fellow FAILED at every deal he's tried to make in the first 100 days.
Border wall: Put off until September, no support in Congress
Muslim travel ban: Rejected twice
Tax Reform; Congress won't go along without Trump releasing his tax returns.
Repeal and Replace ObamaCare: The majority of Republicans are hearing from their constituents that they want to keep ObamaCare.
Not to mention his learn-as-you-go realizations . . .
"Who knew health reform could be so complicated!?" Duh! Everyone knew except you, Donnie Boy!
"Who the NATO alliance could be so complicated!?" Duh! Everyone knew except you, Donnie Boy!
"Who knew tax reform could be so complicated!?" Duh! Everyone knew except you, Donnie Boy!
"Who knew China relations could be so complicated!?" Duh! Everyone knew except you, Donnie Boy!

Republicans sound alarm on Trump's troubles ahead of 2018Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma, a member of GOP leadership, said the lack of legislative progress so far has imperiled his party’s hold on the House. But Cole doesn’t point the finger at Trump: Instead, he said, fellow Republicans unwilling to compromise on key agenda items like health care are to blame.
