I can't tell who is who, but fish_relax, winegirl and traditionslastalifetime have posted from the same IP. Heavensave_1997 comes from a different IP.

So is it safe to assume that fish_relax, winegirl, and tradtionslastalifetime are the same poster or at least are using the same computer?

I don't feel comfortable in that place. To foo foo for me (or is that phoo phoo?).
It is like a place you would take a woman to make her think you are a sensitive kind of guy.
Don't ask me how I know that

It's froufrou !!!

Well Dusty,

This is Yet ONE MORE REVIEW so others will know The Truth.

For though you may have had a somewhat nice visit, So Many others have NOT.

I have worked with many businesses throughout Sacramento and Placer and

THIS STORY will shock you.

My family and I heard that there was a new place to check out so we did.
Once also as a couple and once as a family.

Unfortunately we had not seen this page at the time to be prewarned about Grandma's Kitchen.

On our visits ( for the record ) combined, this is what occured:

We were served by a nice young man who didn't fit in to this place at all.
Blackish short hair with a mustache. This was the only reason we
trid again to see if maybe things were different.

Our food portions were very small and not like my Grandma used to make.
At my Grandma's house we ate till we were stuffed.
Hardy worth the price at this establishment.

The atmosphere was one of agitation due to the shorthanded staff and so
many filled tables. Yet on the other visit there were wait staff just standing around
and not paying attention to peoples needs.

But instead Are you ready ?

While eating we over heard some of the employees asst. mgr included, cussing and joking around sexually with the cooks. They were bragging about how they got drunk and we going to do it again.
There were two staff joking around like they were being Bisexual, one was the asst mgr.

Unethical to say the least.

Some of the wait staff were nice but others smelled of smoke and
the gossip that we overheard was worse than i want to mention.
They were bashing other employees long gone.

Those employees were smart to leave.

Each time we visited one of managers ( young ) same as above had her breast hanging out,
in front of my children, our pastor and my wife was uncomfortable as well,

For this to be a safe christian place to go, this speaks volumns!
she would fit in better at the local bar as a cocktail waitress not
a Family business. They needed someone with Experience here!

We will tell all of our family and friends as well as all the business people I work with
that this is not a business to support. Is not Christian as we had heard and was
very disappointing to say the least.

The % of Bad Out ways the good.
Todd

Blessings all,

My name is Mandee and I am the general manager at "My Grandmas Kitchen" One of my employees introuduced me to myfolsom. I am excited to be here. I first off believe that knowledge is truly the key to success. I also believe we can only learn if we are open to lifes lessons. The bad reviews were a big "ouch" to me for many reasons. But stepping aside from my personal feelings I truly do appreciate honesty. Without honest thoughts we would never know how we can improve. I am a firm believer in always striving to better ourselves. I know explantions are not neccessary and I do not believe excuses do not change a mind that is already made up, however being new to this group and somewhat new to this communtiy I would like to take a moment and introduce myself and my story.

I am from an east coast family. We love food, family, and lots of them! I was married in 1999 and gave birth to an amazing autistic son in 2001. Shortly after my husband was called to New York for 911 to do confined space rescue. He served 15 years on the fire dept as well as Ems dept. After that we decided a change of scenery would do us good. we moved my mom and grandma to sunny california and joined my brother and his family here as welll. It is a true blessing to live in such a beautiful area.

Being east coasters we missed alot of food found out east. Taylor Ham Porkroll is one of them. We also found folsom lacked a place for families. We also discovered many here did not have families. My mother had always dreamed of following in her grandparents foot steps and owning her own food related business. After living in folsom for 2 years we saw a need beyone family. We began to work with the local homeless and saw a need to provide for our community as well. My brother was a youth pastor at a local church for 9 years. In that time his church worked with a great organization called powerhouse ministries. It was than that we began cooking for fellow folsomites God opened doors and bank accounts and we decided it would be great for folsom to have a family run business that would offer homecooked food, a great enviroment, a play area for children so parents could eat, and also be able to donate our food and time to the homeless. A restaurant was planned, built and opened 3 weeks ago!

It has been a rough 3 weeks. By the end of our first week we sadly lost our executive chef. He has been replaced and we are blessed with the new addition to our team. Most of our kitchen staff our former marines. most of our bus staff were members of the church youth group, and your management team is me, my mother and my husband. After 2 years in law enforcement my husband left his job to come work with his wife and mother-law, that poor man lol what a dedicated man. One and a half weeks into opening i was given the bad news that at barely 26 my lupus and kidney disease had gotten the best of me and discovered my right kidney has started to fail. My sister-in-law stepped up and helped me watch over the restauarnt while I adjusted to the news.

This may all sound like a bad story, but it is true..but again in going through all that I have I do also know that anything is possible. And I do truly hope that each of you will give us another try. In the past three weeks I have thought many things one is "should I have taken on such a large responsibility when i know i physically will not be able to maintain it on my own and follow through personally with the high standards i have set" YES! Perserverence and faith is what I live by.

In reguards to some posts of complaints, I do assure you my staff are not prisoners. But i do believe people and hearts can change. Our turkey is not budget gourmet, it is roasted everyday at noon and sliced on our slicer. The coleslaw has had its "learning" experience, it is difficult to take a literal grandmas reciepe and make huge bathches of it "just right" but through trial and error we have succeded.

I do truly hope you will all personally come in and meet me, Mandee. It would be a great benefit for me to be able to here your concerns and suggestions one on one and for you see what we are truly all about. I am sad and disapointed that in our first 3 weeks each and every one of you did not have an amazing experience, however, I am grateful that I am now aware of perceptions, thoughts, and ways we can improve. Thank you all for input, ideas and honest thoughts. Blessings are often in disguise. Thank you all for your time!

Well, this thread has been most interesting. While I have never been to My Grandma's Kitchen, I doubt that I will ever go. I tend to shy away from restaurants that are named after a family member or advertise they are a certain religion. Just my little hang up, you might say. I'm funny that way.

It's interesting how everyone got all warm and fuzzy when the manager of My Grandma's Kitchen told of her personal problems and then of her religion. Does food taste better if one believes in God? I wonder. Does that mean Christians have more weight problems? Just wondering, please don't take offense you Christians. I've heard of "Tea and Sympathy", so I guess it might have some validity if between friends. But in a restaurant?

I want to bring something up that dawned on me, as I read the posts on this thread. In another thread, some said they felt no need to know the sexual orientation of a person, so why were Gays putting that out there when communicating. I feel the same way with the posts from TraditionsLastALifetime. Why do I need to know she and her family are Christians?

I go to a restaurant to eat. I want the food served to be good, served by cordial servers, in a timely fashion, the prices to be reasonable, the place to be clean and the help to be legal. I really don't want to know their life story or what faith they have. I go to a restaurant to eat. The restaurant opens it's doors to make money.
What does religion and the managers personal problems have to do with me having dinner and paying for it?

I guess if someone gets enough sympathy and claims to be a Christian they can make more money than if they didn't say anything, by the posts I'm reading here. Gee, maybe I should open a business and follow that lead.
It sounds like there is some serious money to be made from that approach.

I don't mean to sound nasty, but really folks, is their food and service any good? Are the prices reasonable? Will I become irked out because the place is dirty? Are the servers nice? This is what I want to know, not what religion they practice or what problems they have. Geez, we all have health problems! Got a few hours to hear about some of mine? LOL I'll even toss in the sad story of what my girlfriend is going through with her breast cancer at age 42. True story.

Sure I have sympathy for the problems some people have, but I don't feel that is what one should discuss, if they are trying to drum up business. How about a nice little discount on the meal, if the Folsom Forum is mentioned, just as a gesture of good will? I think a lot of us try new places if they put out a coupon for 1/2 off their next meal. I don't know if My Grandma's Kitchen has done this, but if they haven't, maybe they should.

Now wait a minute, while I get my shield, before you all start clinging those arrows at me. This is just my opinion.......nothing more.

I agree that religion should have nothing to do with. I do know, however, that just about all religions, races, nationalities, familes, etc., like to support their own.

Religion provides networking oportunities. People are encouraged to support members of their religion, so in that context, if they are trying to attract their fellow christians, the mention is appropriate.

I don't care what religion the owners are. I just want the place to treat me right and make me a nice meal.

The reason I would give this restaurant a chance is because the manager cares and is trying. It has nothing to do with her religion or her personal problems. Some businesses hear complaints and don't care, don't attempt a fix. It sounds to me like she is hearing the complaints, wants us to know there were some bumps in the road in the first few weeks, but is working to correct the problems. Frankly, if that's all she had said in her post it would have been enough for me to give the restaurant a chance.

BTW, Chad ate there on the 11th and had a pretty decent review of the restaurant. Perhaps issues are already beginning to see resolution.

We ate there as well during the week for breakfast. We didn't have any problems and the food and service were fine. It was quiet and not too many people were there. As I stated in the other message, we just don't care for the parking lot. It is just not the easiest to enter or exit.

I want to go back for lunch because John piqued my interest in the peanut butter and bacon sandwich. I love both but have not had them together. I usually put crunchy Cheetos in my peanut butter sandwich. Never have liked jelly!

On a side note, the following words seem to be problems on this board:
- their there they're affect effect quiet quite quit

Ok, now that's off my chest and I'll be quiet.

Cheetos with peanut butter? Interesting. One hundred years ago when I ate potato chips, I used to like them in cold cut sandwiches. eek.gif

Restaurants are a matter of personal taste, really. And since we don't have a family, we seldom eat at family restaurants. We like the Macaroni Grill, as a standard and prefer not having to hear the screamers and other noises of children when we go out to eat. Been there, done that.

However, lately we have been ordering to go, and just eat at home in the comfort of our own home. And, more to our liking, have a NetFlix movie in the CD player! Even the Macaroni Grill is too noisy for us sometimes. Like on Friday night.

These days a quite meal is more to my and my husband's liking. Not that there is anything wrong with children. We just enjoy our meal more without the noise of them. So, My Grandma's Kitchen is not really our type of restaurant.

Enough said about that.

'This may all sound like a bad story, but it is true..'

I am not sure what it has to do with the restaurant. Do you want sympathy customers?
