I hoe that was meant in jest! I don't think that Surplus stores and Check Cashing outlets are what Elliot has in mind.

a gun and fishing store would also work cause you got to drive a ways to get fresh bait.

I guess it depends on your definition of average folks. I wasn't under the impression that Folsom was the residence of a lot of rich people (Granite Bay maybe). A book store, a theater, shops, restaurants, coffe shops, etc are where everyday people shop and visit. I'm not sure a check cashing operation fits where the average person shops in Folsom. Just my impression, I don't live in Folsom yet but will in a couple of years.

I'm just hoping this mall gives me somewhere to buy decent clothes for me and the kids, and household stuff. I'm looking forward to the grocery store, too.
I think it will be a shame if we end up with second-rate stores because the better ones go to Roseville. I am so sick of driving to Roseville! I guess we'll find out in 2008 or 2009.

I would love a Container Store or Hold Everything. I'm a sucker for anything that says it will organize my life and home!

I would love a Container Store! We go to the one in SF about once a year...but I would go more often if it were closer.
I have been following this conversation from afar for awhile...you all are very funny. My hope for this new "mall" is that we might just get 1 good sports bar out of it. If anyone is on this forum that can make those calls...please oh please!!! It is impossible to find a bar in this area that actually gets all the sports packages (a bar with the college basketball package is impossible to find).
Thanks!

It's not in Folsom, but Mark & Monica's of Granite Bay (Folsom Auburn/Douglas) has college games.

I see I have been away too long from this discussion. First welcome Pari...pm me if you want.
Second, Eric has already established ( in not so many words ) we are getting a Gourmet Grocer....( it's not Nugget ) so it is Whole Foods ppl..not a canned food outlet. Just get that out of your minds.
Third, Elk Grove and Folsom are NOT getting a Crate and Barrel store as I have spoken to them personally and they only put one in per region...eg 1 in all of Sacramento.
Yes, it would be nice if we could have something to look forward to with full disclosure but alas we will wait. and wait and wait....
I think it is incredible that it is the same developer as Victoria Gardens...I hope they will be able to get a good mix and see that by investing in Folsom instead of Roseville it will be a financial advantage for their retailers because it means less competition for sales and more general business as folks will travel from Rancho and Sacramento to go to some of these anchor stores. In the end it will make better business sense and mean more revenue.
Just my thoughts ppl....try not to make yourselves crazy over this...we are lucky to have someone on this board whom we can try to influence...and yes Eric I am talking to you.

Interesting! Victoria Gardens was developed by Forest City Properties. Are they doing Palladio? I thought General Growth was doing the leasing. I can't see them working together for and Elliott property.

Well....that sucks. I sure hope you are wrong. :-(
I just hope we end up with something decent. I know a lot of people on this board don't want Folsom to turn into Roseville, and I agree, but it would be nice for us to have something.

The sad part about all this development is that only the big chains are attracted and can compete. The small mom & pops who bring the flavor and character to the area are priced out. I just wish Folsom would make a concerted effort to court some of the bigger specialty stores and restaurants. Paragary's, Williams Sonoma, Banana Republic and those types of stores are what I was hoping for. Instead I see we're getting a bigger Wal Mart, Circuit City, Olive Garden...big whup. I guess we really are just a cowtown that got big and the local developers really don't give a rip about the end product but only if they make $.
