How about skip ahead Voice mail playback & features like call back etc?
No. As far as I know the iPhone is the only phone that does that, and that is indeed a cool feature. Add that one to the two others I mentioned as reasons to own the iPhone.
Yes, Treos keep the whole conversation thread. I had some that went back months.
Pictures, yes. And if the built-in picture viewer didn't do slideshows, I'm sure there were 3rd party apps that did. Yes, I believe you could zoom with the built-in picture viewer.
You could either do web access or use 3rd party apps (some REALLY good) that gave you weather, maps, etc.
No iTunes of course.
Yes it had a media player built-in. As good as the iPod, no. But I have to admit I still usually use my Shuffle or VideoPod for music over my iPhone, mostly because Apple insists that I update my 2 year old OS (10.3) to use the iPhone on my Mac (argh).
Google has a maps application for the Treo (which is what I used).
It supports POP3, IMAP and Activesync out of the box. The iPhone doesn't support Activesync.
The iPhone does a lot of things very well and extremely elegantly, but one thing it doesn't do well is look-up/add things quickly. The Treo (built on 10+ years of Palm OS development) is MUCH faster at looking up contacts, adding calendar items and to-do items (and the iPhone doesn't have a To Do list!?). I could look up a number on my Treo in 2-3 seconds, on the iPhone it takes 6-7 probably (because you have to scroll through the list). And adding a calendar item on the iPhone is ridiculously onerous.
It's still an absolutely great device (because of the UI among other things) but Apple has a lot to learn about PDA functionality.

I think you said it best, the Treo (built on 10+ years of Palm OS development) while the iPhone is in it's 1st generation. Can you imagine how many advances the iphone will see in the next year! I think another important thing to consider about the iPhone is that it's not that big. Apple wanted to make a phone that has what people are mainly looking for and on top of that make it easier, cool and not huge. I think they did an amazing job and I'm completely satisfied with my phone!
Darth every time I look at a post you have, I can't stop to think what kind of pointless comment is he going to make. Well I guess this time you found a close relative to make a pointless stab for you. Although I think he's like you but quite a bit more mentally disturbed. He's definitely been either ignored as a child or something but there is a lot of anger built up in that kid. The phone he likes looks pretty cool, but one it's a Nokia, I had so many problems with my Nokia I wouldn't own one again and two it would be a bit weird unfolding that phone into a keyboard every time I went to send a text etc. I do think the Mac Vs. PC joke was pretty dam funny. I also take offense to Mac users all being skinny, I definitely didn't work this hard on my figure to be called skinny!

That would be a rather drastic measure, don't you think?
Honestly, it would help if you detractors actually knew what you were talking about.
Oh, but then you wouldn't be talking, would you?

I have had Macs freeze up on me ("crash"). You do an emergency shutdown, run Disk Utility and/or Disk First Aid, and you're up and running again (usually). I have been using Macs for almost 12 years, now, and I have never seen a sad Mac face except as an illustration in books (knock wood).
I have a troubleshooting partition on my external hard drive (from which I can boot), and am able to do the same (on the exceedingly rare occasions when it has been necessary). I am also able to hook up two Macs with a FireWire cable and start up in FireWire Target Disk Mode with the problematic computer's hard drive mounting on the other Mac's desktop. From there, I am able to troubleshoot with utilities from the second Mac's hard drive.
In the 12 years that I've been using Macs, I have never reformatted a hard drive (again, furiously knocking on wood).
Why, thank you. (I intended to do this, even without your permission or blessing.)
And you think that your post doesn't make you come off as a pompous stuck-up misinformation elitist?
I'm not saying you are, just the post comes off that way to me.
Have you noticed that in those ads, the PC guy does all the talking? He's the star. The Mac guy just stands back and lets him have his say. Kinda like in the real world. (Except for a few of us, out to dispel certain misconceptions.)

It's my opinion that you should be ashamed to link to that site. It does not speak well of PC users.
He doesn't seem to be able to do what he brags about PC users being able to do, does he?

Please, he's spot on about everything and he's funny. You are speaking like a true Mac user.

The iPhone does a lot of things very well and extremely elegantly, but one thing it doesn't do well is look-up/add things quickly... The iPhone's voice mail function seems to be unique, and a big deal. They had to break the AT&T system in order to do it, so they must have thought it was important.
The Treo is good at bookkeeping because its development is planner first and a phone second. Before everyone had to have a Blackberry, the in thing was palm pilots... I had a Handspring Visor, loved the thing. I also had the phone attachement, which worked fine but turned it into a huge brick in your pocket.
I lost it at Six Flags... it was in my pocket when I got on the Ultimate X...
I was going to nut up about this but then realized you were after the other guy.

Not quite, but if he was spot on and gayness fascinates you his commercial mocking Mac users as being gay should put you right on board! Welcome to the Mac world Darth Vader.

I will specify Darth Vadar to eliminate confusion, thank you for the clarification, I didn't realize that two Darth's existed until just a week ago.

Funny? He's obscene. And ignorant. People who don't have a proper vocabulary resort to vulgarity. The PC world is welcome to him. I'd be ashamed to have him in my camp.
Speaking like a "true Mac user"? I thought I made it pretty plain that's what I am.

I guess that's why you are so offended, because he's right.

I am offended by obscenity. I find it coarse, crude, and unnecessary. If you can't find a legitimate argument, just spew filthy vitriol; that will do.
Total waste of bandwidth.
