We each have our own preferences.

I had DECENT Chinese Food at China Buffet this evening.
YUMMY!...til next time... biggrin.gif

Bon Appétit!

we had lunch there yesterday. it was decent. the buffet lines were congested. the mongolian bbq, sort of a waste and not very tasty, but at least it was hot. the rest of the food was lukewarm and, unforgivably, so was the tea. can you imagine a chinese restaurant that doesn't even serve their tea hot???

we prefer the japanese buffet over by jimboys.

600+ customers yesterday. Gross: over $10,000.00.

Out of curiosity--where did you get that info?

What makes you think that anyone on this forum should be privy to that info?

The restaurant is a private industry--not a public--share holding business.

Industrial espionage is a crime. You do know that?

Don't worry, Davburr and BillZ will certainly hammer her for that whole "need to know" and "right to know" stuff that is strictly enforced here!

Hammer who, supermom or spicy?

But my feelings are Spicy just made that up, but it may be a good guess, and then maybe not.
$10K/600 means an average of $16.67 per patron (or less if you add the +) sounds reasonable. The 600+ in one day, not so sure. That's 60+ patrons per hour solid for 10 hours. I don't know how busy they were opening day, I don't know how many hours they were open, I don't know what the seating capacity is. but if seating capacity is say 120 and they were open for 10 hours, then it could be between a packed lunch and dinner rush and some business during off peak hours, maybe 600 customers isn't out of the question.
I would rather be Backpacking

Do restaurants on Indian reservations such as Thunder Valley Casino have to adhere to state health laws? Supposedly it's soveign land.

I have never had a good experience at buffets.... they, to me, are extremely disgusting. Yes, I have issues... laugh.gif but I really don't like to see people eating it very much disgusts me. I can't even watch my own kid eat... Buffets usually have some of the nastiest people in them shoveling food into their fat mouths... sooooooooo fowl.

I haven't read the replies here in a while, so I'll just report and sorry for any repeated info. Greg and I went on Saturday night. They apparently have more seafood on Friday and Saturday, so it costs a couple dollars more than it would during the week. The $13.99 price doesn't include drinks, so it ended up costing $32 for the two of us. For the price, we'd rather go to a sit-down Chinese restaurant.

The food was really not bad for a buffet. Most of it was pretty fresh, because the place was PACKED so they were moving a lot of food through. The sushi seemed to sit there for a while, and since it was all raw or crab (I'm allergic to crab), I didn't have any. Just to clarify: I love raw sushi, but I won't eat it off a buffet. ew.

Greg had Mongolian BBQ, which was pretty good, but there are better Mongolian BBQ choices in town and in EDH so it's not worth it for that alone. He also got steak, which was horrible. However, the other lines were quite good. There was dim sum, which I rarely get to eat, and all kinds of other stuff. The steamed "fish," presented on the bone, was quite good (don't know what kind it was), but the steamed salmon was almost completely devoid of flavor. I had the biggest oyster I've ever seen--cooked, but I'm not sure how, and quite tasty. I also liked the mussels with white stuff and cheese.

If the price were lower we'd probably eat there again, but at the current price it's not worth it so we probably won't bother again. However, we were glad we tried it.
