My husband had the Kilt Lifter and the Bastard Oak, and the one I liked I can't recall the name, but it was the first listed, some Italian brand.

That Italian one is Moretti Beer - its a good lighter beer with lots of hops

They really do have some great beers there, the list is very impressive - for another good lighter one try the Allegasian Wheat or Boont Amber.

A good middle of the road (light vs dark) is Full Sail Ale

The wildest one I've tried there so far was North Coast Brewery's Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abbey Ale, its 9.4% - tastes really really good with a bit of sweetness, but its a doozy, beware.

I personally like the "No crap on tap" theme. You can get a Coors Light-type beer anywhere. It's nice to have a place that focuses on better beers. My Mom drinks water disguised as beer. When she goes to brew houses and the like with me she knows to ask for the "lightest pilsner you have" and is usually pleased with what she gets. (I don't think I've ever seen her not finish a beer!)

There's a great German/Bavarian bier house in Madison, WI that doesn't serve "crap" beers and they do very well. In fact, they sell the most German tap beers of anyplace in the whole US. It's packed all the time, though they have live music (usually German music) nightly. (www.essen-haus.com/essenhaus.htm)

I'd love to see Manderes do something similar to what Essen Haus does: they have tours that you can take. You sign up (free) and get a card that corresponds to the tour you're taking (German biers, Euro beers, Southern Hemisphere beers, etc) and each time you come in, you are served a different beer on the list until you try them all. You can also purchase a bier stein and keep it at the restaurant, they have hooks on the ceiling and there are steins everywhere. You come in, grab it, they wash it and fill it for you. You can get boots of beer to play the boot game with, etc. Very fun place. I miss it!

Now thats one country I can't wait to visit!

That's Wisconsin. You should make a pilgrimage to the Harley Museum in Milwaukee and stop by Madison on the way.

If I wanted high end cab and my friend wanted Franzia , I wouldn't desert my friend.
Why not make $$$ selling both ?
Streets of London finally gave in......

I notice that the Coors Light kegs at Streets are the much smaller variety (pony?).
It keeps the tenderfoots happy while I can enjoy something with a bit more complexity.

Last pint was Old Rasputin. Hit the spot nicely.

Will have to check out Manderes - just saw they have Stone Brewery's Arrogant Bastard Ale on Tap - anyone that has Stone Brewery on tap must love beer.

Stone IPA is awesome too!
