I'm not sure how this store opened in Folsom at that particular location in the first place.
Maybe if it had opened in another location like the Best Buy shopping center or even in the middle of town next to Walmart, it would have had more traffic.
You can't even see it from East Bidwell where it is is now.
It's kind of a small building and even so, it is mostly empty when I went in.
They must be wasting alot of money with opening this store. They must have known it had little chance of success there. I wonder if they just opened it because it was too late when they realized it was doomed it would have cost more to cancel it and break contracts than to just go ahead and complete opening it.

The parking lot was about 50% full instead of 20% full.
The selection was still very poor. I was going to look at a Slingbox, but they didn't have the most current models.

Circuit City says they are talking to two very interested buyers to do a sale of the company.
However, if the deal doesn't go through by this Friday, they say they are going to liquidate and this will be the end of the company.

I think this topic should be moved into a poll of:
What will the CC building be after they close, because in my opinion its not a matter of if but when.

Since they have two potential buyers looking, maybe they will be saved.
Otherwise, maybe a SuperStarbucks (Starbucks with a grocery store inside it with another Starbucks inside that) or a 99 cent store.

We really need a Sears here in Folsom but that would be too small for a Sears.
Maybe a motorcycle superstore. It can carry 4-5 brands of bikes. Make it Honda, Triumph, Motto Guzzi, Victory and KTM. Carry a boat load of accessories, helmets, jackets, etc...
I would be there like everyday. Of course since I have to drive up the hill to get home, my wife may not approve. If you build it, we will come.....
In all seriosuness, even if CC gets more funding it will be only a matter of time before they burn through that and die like they have needed to do for so long unless a major overhaul comes along. When I say overhaul, they may need to change their name becasue its so tarnished by consumers, it would take alot to overcome that alone.

Yep, goodbye Circuit City.

So when they liquidate the inventory, the prices will be all the way down to MSRP? Sort of like Linens and things.

I am very sypathetic to the companies going under and the emplyees without a job. However, its about time for certain comapnies like Circuit City and Linens and things. Overpriced and bad service...

You have to be careful shopping at liquidation sale and not assume everything is a good deal. The liquidators usually mark up all the prices first so the percetange off discount looks more impressive. Often, you will be able to find the item cheaper online even after the supposed discounts. It isn't until near the very end that the best discounts become available. Sometimes they never discount the prices enough even in the final days and items just never sell and they get sent somewhere else to be resold through a different venue.

http://news.yahoo.co...ity_bankruptcy;
Bankrupt Circuit City Stores Inc., the nation's second-biggest consumer electronics retailer, said Friday it failed to find a buyer and will liquidate its 567 U.S. stores. The closures could send another 30,000 people into the ranks of the unemployed.

I wonder what will happen with the building if Circuit City goes bankrupt before or shortly after the new store opens?
Almost exactly 9 months since the original post.
I wonder how people involved with this store opening didn't halt construction of the Folsom location and not waste all that money. This is not an unforeseen situation.

Well, my one experience with the Folsom store was rife poor customer service. It was a mid-week, mid-morning, and the least of the problems was that the employees acted as though they couldn't care less that I was there. ESPECIALLY in this day and age, customer service needs to be a top priority if businesses want to retain customers.
