barring anything offensive that the customer has done, the business should do everything to rectify the situation or they WILL be forced out of business by word of mouth. Any sensible person reading the following posts will come to the obvious conclusion that the IHOP on Iron Point has lousy customer service and a horrible management:
When you hear comments like (quoting from several customers of theirs) :
“It took us 1.5hrs to get our food and the place was empty. I could see him from where we were sitting and he was complaining the entire time about how people were mad and they would just have to wait because there were lots of people out sick. He was actually cussing too” and
I tried to follow up on Monday and I spoke with Melisa the Director of Operations for IHOP. I told her what happened and she said she was going to call the IHOP and call me back. I am still waiting for her call. I called and spoke to the owner and he too said he would call me back. I'm still waiting for that call to.
And
In any case, I've always had much better service at the E. Bidwell location. The group of servers they have are just much nicer and more professional.
And
The Blue Ravine/Bidwell is much better than the one near Sam's club. The one near Sam's Club is always short staffed. They apologize for bad service but never seem to improve.
And
I have also had issues with her as well providing less than exceptional service.
The other IHOP has better service. (the one by Save Mart)
And
We had the misfortune to visit this IHOP (by Sams and BevMO) and the service was terrible. We will never go there again!!!
And
YESSSSSSSSSS! I will never go there again
And
....IF you must eat at an IHOP, the one on E Bidwell is head and shoulders above the one on Iron Pt. (IMHO)

The place is always packed in-between the hours that it should be. I have good faith that every day of the three times a week or so that I go there I could ask every customer if they are having a good dining experience and they will say yes. They are flooded with regulars for a reason also...
Iron Point ihop is only getting busier from this economy because its a cheaper place to eat for the people that used to go to BJ's or something for lunch before the economy started failing. I think that there is alot more people talking good about that place then there is bad so its probably a 50/1 ratio of happy customers spreading the word vs one that might of had a bad experience which is why they are very busy there.
I'm not doubting the people on this forum that stated they had a bad experience and that really isn't fair to them if that happened but I will say that I never have a bad experience there and I know ALOT of people that go there and they don't ever complain either.
It really does sound like you have management and the economy all figured out palango so maybe you should open a business in the food service. If the customer is always right, the management is perfect, and food is never prepared wrong in your restaurant then I can assure you... I'll eat there almost daily

I feel like I'm in grade-school listening to this.

When you have terrible management such as above running any company that could care less about customer service, then more power to them I guess. The reason why JLS is such a staunch defender of this place is because they are probably his clients. You scratch my back and I will yours.

I told the employees how I felt and they seemed frustrated as well. They mentioned that their management has been told about some problems and they refuse to address it. The employees were all very courteous, but I nicely told them I'd never be back. Their food is not good enough to pay over $30 for a family of four (two young children - not teenagers).

Are the ihops priced differently?
We always just go with my wife and I with the $8-9 off coupon. I learn more about family dining once my babies are old enough to eat off the menu I guess...

Oh yes. It is a VERY easy industry to get into and anyone can succeed! Just look at all of the local restaurants that are just flourishing in this economy... two yahoos off the street would have a great go of it, just because they think that the customer is always right, 1,000,000,000,000% of the time.
Don't pay any attention to the business/inventory/equipment/staffing aspect of it. Not to mention the hours, the blood, sweat and tears that go into it.
Nope... all that is needed for a successful restaurant (or any business, really) is to believe that the customer is always right.
Let us know when you and Palango open up so that we can come and revel in your greatness.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

is it that she doesn't KNOW how much, or doesn't CARE how much?

I must say, rule #1 is an insult to any intelligent person. I've seen too many situations in various businesses where the customer is flat wrong, and usually stupid too. The customer is not always right. The business may choose to treat the customer as if they were right, but too often they are not. It wasn't too long ago that some person on this forum admitted to buying a neck tie at a garage sale, and because it still had a price tag, returned it for full price at the store. That person wasn't right. He was just a low life.
