Why would you want to do that? Old Mike rocks!
I say we all show up at the bridge, errr, crossing opening dressed entirely in black. Maybe burst into a round of "Folsom Prison Blues" whenever the TV cameras turn on.
Johnny woulda wanted it that way.

Ya know, I have patience for the neighbors cat caterwauling at 2am.
Cause as soon as her throat starts to hurt--around 10 minutes--the cat shuts up.
But the deal is-----on a normal night the stupid noise stops around 10-11pm.
Normal has not been normal for the last 6 months.
Normal is now--al freaking night long with either generators running or some sort of mechanical machinery.
Lets not overlook the damn jackhammers starting at 5am.
DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT PATIENCE.
the blimping, blimey, sussafrassed, loud making govement would sure as heck would give me a ticket every single night if I made that much damn noise.
NOW I KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT THAT DAMN BRIDGE.
You'd think with the major parts of the bridge up and them driving across it--that the noise at night would have stopped.

I'm going to have to call BS on this. I'm out running on the bike trail just about every night between 5 and 7 PM. A lot of the time I'll finish up by the new bridge to check on progress. For the last several weeks there has been little to no activity after 6 PM. Some night they're working, but most they're not. A few months ago they were doing more, but lately not so much. And most of the work is "finishing touches" not the blasting and pouring that we dealt with early in the counstruction.
I don't want to sound like I'm picking on you, but every time you post about the excessive noise you experience at Lake Pointe I wonder if we're living in the same complex. Maybe I'm just a sound sleeper.
On the plus side they finished the new bike trail down and under the bridge. I would say there are some sweet views of the dam and gorge, but it was too dark to see anything. Looks like there are going to be some viewing platforms built in the near future as well.

Call it what you want--they are freaking loud late at night.
ps. I don't need to leave my living room to see the progress on the bike trail or the bridge.
They are a freaking rude company to be working that late.
You do realize that a good portion of where they are now (pouring) was actually a part of a parking lot for waste materiels and old vehicles? Therefore, they did have to jackhammer it up to even the bike path.
Call me full of bs---but obviously I pay attention to my surroundings and am not deaf (at least not yet)

Cool, ready made bungy jumping platforms!!!
Is the bridge tall enough for some base jumping as well?
I bet they'll make some dumb rule about no fishing from the bridge.

No
Most BASE jumpers want about 500ft. You can do it in less, but basically you deploy before you leave.

hey way to go msgt, one of the best posts out there. what would be funny is to have a johnny cash look alike contest at a local bar and then have the contestents wander around the opening day crowd....they could say they were the ghost of johnny cash haunting the bridge that could have been his
this is kind of an off the wall thought, but I hope we don't get any jumpers who are depressed if you catch my drift

OK, old soldier, what's up? This is the 2nd time today you've replied to one of my posts, to then give credit to someone else. Earlier it was mylo, and now , it's Msgt.
As for your last sentence, I think the saying "If you build it, they will come" will unfortunately hold true. What worries me more is some kid who doesn't want to end it all, is goofing off with a friends and accidently falls. When the bridge opens, I will be very interested in seeing how difficult they have made it for someone to accidently fall off.

Do you know what time the construction workers are supposed to stop making noise in the evening, and what until what time in the AM?
Wondering---10-11 pm every night is getting old.
6-7 AM on Weekends is getting old.
Who are you going to complain to when there's TRAFFIC on it all the time? :-D

I want a big freaking audacious, bold, dauntless, dignified, gallant, he-man of a bridge and I want it to be named the Johnny Cash Memorial Bridge. I want a replica of his hat bronzed and mounted at each side of the bridge... and a big sign sayin
Right now they will put up a sign with the saying "
Folsom Lake Crossing, named by the council for the council and to the council.
And the only thing bronzed on each side of the bridge will be fist with it's middle finger sticking up and a plaque with this message... "to the people"....
submit that to your bridge naming contest
That was great Mike!

I am sorry Bill Z, call it a senior moment. the other idea about the opening would be if they made Johnny cash masks, like the do for presidents and we could all to the opening weaing a mask.
Heck Fiesty Kerri could pull one out and put it on when she was on the stage with the important people who make the speaches.
