QUOTE (bv1016 @ Apr 14 2009, 10:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ok here is my thought...

I hate to see the V's go, I have laughed at some of their comments, I have thought because of their comments and frankly I have cringed at a couple... that being said... what bothers me if anything is that if you get an innappropriate PM you should deal with it differantly than "alledged" here.. (because I have not actually seen or recieved the alledged innapropriate PM to or from anybody) Anyways, as Neighborhood Leaders that is where I see the problem, I look to u as representatives of the forum... and feel responding to some of the less than nice PMs with your own less than nice PMs only fuels a fire that really should be snuffed. Seems if you remove the NL title, I feel... u remove the problem, and keep on posting.

I am the type of person that likes to have the last word, loves a confrontation, and when I know I am right, I will argue it to the end.. but if the back and forth is counter productive... I ignore it. Especially when it isn't face to face! Those are my favorite.

I also believe that both Andrea and Chris feel strongly in their choice to leave and why. I believe that you stand behind your choices and I respect that. If you must go... I get it. But i wish you wouldn't.

Finally... I do think there are a lot of newbies who do contribute positively, I hate the blanket statements that they are all problems...

When I made my statement about newbies, I stated only the problem makers. I did not say all newbies. We always want new people to come to the board and bring new items for discussion. We do not need problem makers be they people that have been here forever or newbies.
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

For me, I don't moderate much, but, when I do, I don't necessarily have the time to go back and PM someone as to why. I hope you understand, and I appreciate your question. There are times when a post could get deleted if it was quoting the "offensive" post. I guess you could call that collateral damage.

"Moderating" is kind of a pain, and it fills my inbox with non-stop complaints about others' posts. I delete a few posts a month, and it usually has to be pretty offensive (usually a threat to kick someone's a** or calling someone a name outright).

While it was an honor to be asked at first, it's not like it gets me or any of the other mods any "benefits" other than to be 2nd-guesses. If you really want the "job", PM John for consideration. I've got a family and real job that take priority.

I would imagine this is how my daughter's kindergarten teacher feels... everyone running to the mods about this or that post being offensive or attacking.

Back to the original topic, I've been there and have taken my own sabbatical from this site. Anyway, hope you'll come back but I also hope that this forum does become nicer with the return of warmer weather... can't wait for the 80s at the end of the week.

I delete multiple posted items when they come up. These are normally posted by someone that is new to the board. If I have time I will email them and let them know they do not have to post an item multiple times. When I receive an email saying that there is an offensive item on the board, I check that item out and if I feel it is distasteful I will delete it. I do not always send an email to the person that posted it.

Actually, it's more like the bitter taste of booze. It feels good once you acquire a taste and it's great while you do it - but you often regret it later wink.gif

I notice when veterans aren't around for a while. I always hope the reason is they're off on some tropical island with no internet connection having the time of their lives and can't be bothered with the forum. Or maybe I'm just hoping that happens to me some day.

I remember my first attempt at quitting this site. I made a big announcement like chris did, swearing to never return, and stormed off for, what, a whole month?

I'm just tired... tired of playing the game... ain't it a crying shame... I'm so tired.

Didn't that coincide with the 30 days you served at county?

I've been on a low-intake myfolsom diet as well, didn't even see this thread until now. sad.gif

I am sorry to see the V's go as well - you two added energy and life to this forum. I side with the folks who think the wrong people are leaving.

Andrea and Chris, hope to see you at the NSE Carnival and Field Day. Maybe Open House as well.

I missed those footnotes in the constitution myself. I guess if one can imagine that was the intent, then it must be in there.
