First of all, aren't you the one that said you tried Granitos a couple of times and the service wasn't good?

Second, the sign guy is out there quite a bit. I have seen him many times.

First of all yeah

Second, I saw him today and posted for everyone's benefit, you did not.

That makes me cooler than you tongue.gif

BTW normally the sign just says serving lunch.....

My family visited the new Visconti's for the first time last Thursday. I have to say the new location is a step up from where they were before. The service was great but I can't say the same for our meals. The bread had so much butter on it you could practicaly ring it out before eating. Salads were good. My wife ordered the Chicken Piscante and it literally had a good 1/4 inch of geasy oil covering the bottom of the plate. It was so bad you could have eaten it with a spoon. That is if you like geasy oil... My Chicken Parmesan was OK, definately not the best I've had. My mom had a dish that had calamari rings in it. I tried a few and they had the consistency of rubber bands... My wife was completly turned off by her food and I don't blame her. It was that bad... We mentioned it to the server when he came to clear out plates but he didn't seem to take our comment too seriously. I doubt we will go back anytime soon. THeir food is just way to greasy and heavy. If I was in the area again looking for Italian I will probably go across the street to Macaroni. At least they dont drown all of their food in greasy oil.

Sounds like the quality of the food hasn't changed.

We will gladly take your business! If you haven't tried us before, please do. We do not over sauce our food, and we are committed to having a happy customer.

I don't know who did the cooking but to have all three of your meals come out so off is not good. I personally have never tried Viscontis. I probably should, but honestly when I go out to eat the last thing I want is Italian food. I usually just end up at La Fiesta.

Went to Visconti's again with a party of six. It was awesome!! Service was top notch and everyone's food was perfectly cooked (and sauced). I think the growing pains in the new place are over it is a great experience. Everyone from hostesses to wait staff to the owners son were on their game and it showed the place was packed. We had a great time and I didn't mess up my kitchen, which is important if you have six people that dont all want the same thing even if you buy "special" tomatoes! smile.gif
No need to go anywhere else, at least for me.

I have to add my 2 cents here. I finally decided to visit the new Viscontis with my wife tonight. First I must say when we exited our car the scent of garlic was fantastic and I couldn't wait to take a seat and enjoy a great meal. It was only 5:30 so we were seated quickly. We got water and bread quickly and took a look at the menu. The drink of choice was a nice chianti for the wife and I selected a Cab. Prices were reasonable but it would have been nice to see some more California wines. I appreciate they want to show off the Italian side by having so many italian wines but come on, some of the best red wines come from right down the highway in either Lodi or Napa valley. We selected the Calamari for a starter and were terribly disappointed. I have tasted better from the frozen section at Sam's Club. Just absolutely terrible! The wife ordered the Cannelonni and I decided on the Baked Tortellini. The Canelonni was subpar at best. I was also disappointed with the tortellini. The marinara sauce didn't do the dish justice and it almost seems like they try to use the sauce as their signature. If that's the case I would suggest they do something to flavor. I searched and searched for that wonderful garlic flavor but could find it nowhere. It seems like this is a typical folsom spot. If you show up enough, the owner will make you feel special and you will return because you feel special and lose sight of the fact that the food is mediocre. So many in Folsom fall prey to this due to the need to be recognized. I would give Viscontis 2 out of 5 stars. I would much rather go to Strings, get an average meal and pay an average price. If you want some great Italian food you're better off making the drive to the city and hitting the Stinking Rose or other genuine italian joint. Nice try Viscontis but this Folsom resident is not fooled.

I love The Stinking Rose.... fabulous food! Closer to home -- authentic, gourmet, delicious but expensive: Biba!

SCOREBOARD AFTER 102 POSTS:

VISCONTI'S:

POSTIVE MENTIONS: 10
NEGATIVE MENTIONS: 13

GRANITO'S:

POSITIVE MENTIONS: 0 (That's ZERO, as in NONE)
NEGATIVE MENTIONS: 18

To put this into perspective, Granito's received less positive mentions than Quik-E-Mart (2)
and Pork Rinds (3).

CONCLUSION: Visconti's is really bad. Granito's is worse.

BIG LOSER: Children being brought up to think either represents Italian food.
