Well Chris...about that beer.  Been doing the touristy thing whilst visiting my daughter.  Funny story about the beer though. The first place I went into was called the Bristologist. Just looking for some lunch and a pint. I asked what they had on tap and they said Sierra Nevada. Now I like Sierra Nevada, but c'mon!  want an English beer!  Did finally try some Funky Monkey, some William something or other and settled for Guinness when I had to. Hopefully London will be better. Heck, I can get Fuller's ESb at Fat Rabbit! 

 

Had some unremarkable "local" ale tonight.  I always try to get cask beer (hand drawn) instead of keg, but a lot of places are more chains than one offs.  Heck, even finding a pub with dartboards is a monumental task...so strange.  AT least there are a few 1700's pubs with character to them..."crashed" a wake at one called the Seven Stars. Tipped my drink to the deceased and was offered food and merriment in return. So very odd, but odd in a good way.  Weather sucks, but people have been great.

 

Had another political chat with the woman running the front of a glassblowing shop. She was appalled at the "woke' crowd. (you should have seen the book selection in "We The Curious" museum for children.) Not much about science, but an s load about women, minorities, veganism, "saving the world" and political activism ('Raise your voice!').  It was astounding...

Quick update. Had Fuller's ESB at the Churchill Arms in London (had to go as I often shoot darts at the pub of the same name here in Folsom). Very cool place, cool history and great beer. Oddly, a Thai restaurant was in back....weird combination, but great food though.  Nothing too political in London, but was really impressed with the Beefeaters at the Tower of London. Those guys are badasses!

One thing I forgot to mention is that we were in Bristol for their Remembrance Day (similar to our Veteran's Day), and former soldiers wear their medals and ribbon bars even out of uniform. Saw a bunch of men in suits with them. Very cool. I wish we did that here. Of course, when the first cannon shot went off, we didn't realize what was going on and were a little perturbed (sound was like a bomb, especially echoing off the tall buildings). That is all, back to memes...
