I just found this thread and have spent quite a while catching up on what has been said. This is fascinating and very sad. I can imagine that many people are feeling like there is nothing left to do, and my guess is that the police have their hands tied. If they want a charge to stick, they need to make sure they have adequate proof, obtained legally, and not appear biased or "out to get this guy". This being said, I say keep talking about it and telling people. The more people that know, the better.

Kyle- Please stay sober. I can't imagine how hard that is for you, but there are so many people/organizations that can help you. Also, if you know ANYTHING, the slightest bit of information should be shared with the police now. I am not sure what might stop you from going to the police now that you know about the charges, but imagine if you could stop another young person from being dragged into that situation or protect someone from ODing?? This discussion may be about upset neighbors, but in reality it is about saving people that may not be able to save themselves, stopping future crimes from happening, and allowing people to get the help that you were able to get. You could be the one person that could help the police here.

On another note, my brother-in-law is an assistant DA in LA in the narcotics division and my sister is an AUSA and used to work in the narcotics division. I will give them a call and see if I can learn anything about how these cases work and what the neighbors can do to help.

So there was some really creepy guy hanging out. That's right, just hanging out! Really really early this morning...slick backed hair....like right out of the movie the "Outsider's". So maybe Roy's Boy's are putting on "West Side Story" in his theatre? Do you think the great broken man himself will play Maria? Hey maybe he'll sell ticket's to us neighbor's....then he can afford to move out.

I saw him there yesterday too as I drove by - your description of him is perfect and he looked like a very shady person by the way he was acting skittish, maybe he's been strung out for a while and can't find his way home

Maybe instead of looking at these "scary" people you guys should confront them and tell them there not welcome in the neighborhood. I hear all kinds of talk and thats just it. Put up or shut up. If you don't like whats going on do something about it. I can remember when I first moved out of my parents house into a condo in a pretty bad neighborhood there was a drug house down the street. Well, the neighbors weren't happy about it and things were done about it. Within a week it was raided and seized and everything was solved.

Really you think that a 53 year old woman should walk up to a tweeker hyped up on meth and twitching and say "get out of my neighborhood", that is not the answer. Yup if the methhead kills me then he will probably be arrested. So if there are enough of us to be mamed or murdered, then eventually all the methheads will end up in jail. Why that is fantastic chris v! Oh but wait...what will Roy do without his boys? Um maybe he'll get more? That is rediculious if he's not afraid of the police AND not afraid to air his dirty laundry on the front of the Sacramento Bee...he is not going to be afraid of me. I don't know what to do. We call the police when we hear something bad, they do seem to be driving by more often. But I saw this creepy guy talking to a kid on a scooter that rode by. I don't feel good about it but it's not illegal. That why this forum is here. Rich neighborhood, poor neighborhood , middleclass neighborhood....we all want to feel safe and have our kids feel save. I know it's not a pefect world and I also don't know how to fix it. I've had it for tonight. I'm going to try and get some sleep and hope I don't wake up with sirens blaring and my house on fire. Goodnight all!

If you don't presonally feel comfortable dealing with the tweakers 1 on 1, then talk to your neighbors and get a group of them together. You guys need to let these people know they aren't welcome. If enough of you gather and show a presence then these people will eventually start to get the message. You just have to be persistant.

Much easier said than done! Especially when you are a mother. All it takes is one tweaker with a gun to take out the group of people.

I totaly agree! That poor lady, now I know why she obsessed. It's stupid for anyone to suggest that neighbors get together and tell them to leave. Like some drug-dealer is going to say "gee I'm sorry that my customer's are bothering you at all hours, having loud parties, causing lots of crime in your neiborhood and driving your house values down. We'll move to another street right away". I feel so sorry for his neighbors and I hope they don't take the confrontation advice. It can't go on forever right? I am asuming it's been getting worse and that's the reason for the article. The police must be watching that place 24/7 they catch them.

Well, one problem as I see it is that druggies can be dangerous in their own right, no matter how many of one's neighbors one has alongside. I'm all for confronting problem neighbors in person, but this is a whole other level. I don't really blame the neighbors for not wanting to personally confront the people visiting the meth house. There are a lot of potential bad outcomes and not that many good ones, unfortunately. What needs to happen is that the guy running the show needs to be locked away and the house sold to somebody else. The only way to keep meth-heads away from the house & neighborhood is to take away the source of the drugs.

Hmmmm, me thinks that if every neighbor in the area was CONSTANTLY calling FPD and demanding action, something eventually will happen. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, so to speak, so let's hear some squeaking.

How come I have never seen anybody raise this question at the city council meetings, if it is such a nuisance to some, namely blonde74, or whatever her name is. Police Chief Spiegel is at EVERY council meeting, so he will be there to hear your concerns. If everyone on the street lodges a complaint in front of the council, see what happens. Quite beating a dead horse on here. It does no good.

From what I've read the whole article in the Bee came from some big talk at the counel meeting. Am I wrong? I was checking to see if anyone heard from Blonde 74. She hasn't posted anything all day, and she seemed so upset last night. I hope she's alright. Do you think that starting this topic has put her safety at risk?

Oh and aren't all of the neighbors calling the police all of the time?

A suppression hearing would be a defense motion to disallow some evidence for some technical reason; i.e. illegal search. It is one of many possible preliminary hearings. The courts continue hearings all of the time for hundreds of different reasons. Even when they get to the hearing in April, it will only resolve the matter of whether a certain piece of evidence can be used at a trial.
"Sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident, teachers' unions have a long history of working against the interests of children in the name of job security for adults. And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.
