Thank you for your respond.
I respectfully disagree. I have neen to Nobu in Vegas and Manhattan, and I also have been to Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills a dozen times over the past several years. The BEST Japanese restaurant in the USA.
Bon Appetit!

I've been to Matsuhisa a few times in BH for business dinners, it was nice but it seemed overly trendy and very over priced.

I love good food and can appreciate a nice presentation - but when every single thing you order is a postage stamp sized serving with a bit of sauce drizzled over it to make it arty - it just looks nice, but its not very practical

I personally wouldn't say that place is the best Japanese restaurant in America, just the most trendy and expensive

my 2 cents

Normally, I'd think, "How would he know?" and then I remember you've been to Japan a number of times and you have a keen palate and interest in food.

Thanks cw!

I've been all over the states and to Asia many times and have tried many different foods - I'll always try something at least once - its the only way to find out if its good or not and when it comes to food, I like to form my own opinions based on my own real world experiences. Its especially great when the company is footing the bill because it affords some higher priced meals when wining and dining clients and thats whats given me the greatest culinary experiences I could ever ask for.

HOLY #$%# you're kidding right? $75 for lunch for 2 because "you can get in?" Uh yeah at those prices they should do more than just feed ya lunch but that was with no tip and no wine? Cripes, it must be really nice to blow $100 bucks on a lunch because waiting at a less expensive place is too much of a hassle.

You must be the same person in charge of turning the lights off at the local fields.....

It was a business lunch (thankfully I was not paying). And the issue was how difficult it is to get into The Kitchen. You can get into another Randall Selland restaurant if you really want to go that route (and have money to burn). For serious foodies, it is not that outrageous (I would never personally pay that much). Check out this from the French Laundry:

"The French Laundry offers two menus that change on a daily basis. The 9-course Chef’s Tasting Menu and the 9-course Vegetable Tasting Menu which are designed by Chef Keller and his staff to showcase the best seasonal products available. Both menus are priced at $240.00 each (service charge included). "

Yes, $240 for vegetables! No wine included. Wine will put you easily at $400 I understand. Per person. Two people, that is half of a lot of people's mortgage payment.

Davburr,
Thank you for your response, and thank you for not attacking me personally like you did in the past or like James1 aka GoodFellas did yesterday.
It is best to respect each other opinion and move on.

GoodFellas,
I do like you as a person. You are very friendly and seem to be down-to-earth.
George, you're good people, a great asset to the city of Folsom (I don’t make this statement very often).
I wish you the very best.

Hey, check this out--it only costs 250 bucks to hire someone to slap the horns off a cow.

So, the way I figure it, the must be a dang big piece of beef on the plate for any one to think that those prices are acceptable.

I remember the Iron Chef episode where the secret ingredient was Kobe (Wagyu) Beef. There were thousands of dollars in big slabs of the stuff.

Instead of $300 for dinner here I'd rather go to Kona and get decent food with a much better view.
