Bull-crap.

And its not that hard to take an animal to a vet to be euthanized. It's called being lazy.

Your right, I could have smashed it's head with a hammer... after all this is the first time a house cat caught a bird and played with it.

I stand by my prior statement about some people being worthless human beings.

No I'm talking about the original posting.

The cat killed a bird.

The key point, the bird was still alive and they threw it outside and then the cat killed it.

Technically what they are saying is they considered the bird has no value as a living thing. I would hate to see how they treat other people. The cat is domesticated. They could have saved the bird. They chose not to. Thats not nature. Thats called being a dick.

And worthless human beings in my opinion. I don't even have to know her to know that much.

1. What did you want her to do? Give the bird mouth to mouth? Tell me exactly what you would have done?

I don't think she qualifies for that disgusting comment

You seem to be reflecting those negative values that you are lamelessly attempting to judge Andrea by.
Pretty lame post ... did I say lame already?... I did say that... didn't I?.... I think I did... yea, I think I indiicated that this was a pretty lame post. With some pretty disgusting comments.

[edit]

And frankly I don't care about the flames of 'well I know this person they are good in real life'. You would treat any living thing how you want to be treated.

Again thats not wild, thats just inhumane.

To use the example, what if a coyote came in your yard and tried to attack one of your animals. Its it's nature. Would you just throw your injured animal out to the coyote. Or if it was a cat and a vicious dog had chewed it up but it was still alive, its the exact same concept and principle.

Some people just have NO sense of morals or value.

Some peoples morals and values are way out of wack. Your example is horrible. If a coyote would have been pestering my pet in my yard, it would be shot dead. I have had wild animals attack pets. I grew up in the country. Been around mtn lions, badgers, all that stuff. Hell, we even had a neighbors domesticated dog kill and eat half of a cat. Seriously, if you are that passionate about a stupid wild bird... give me your phone number, I will call you next time it happens. You can take it to the vet or peta or whatever group you're rallying for.

Michael, how do you feel about mice and rats? Is it a travesty when a cat kills vermin?

just curious, not a diss on ya. you're obviously very passionate about animals, maybe also a member of PETA?

First off LOL about the mouth to mouth comment. Did I not mention humanely euthanize.

Second off, MSgt here i will be more politically correct. Thats called being an #ss. Is that better?

Third, I didn't single out Andrea I said they since its two people discussing the actions of what happened with the bird. I didn't single out a specific person saying Andrea was the one for letting the bird do it or Chris for throwing the bird outside. I left a blanket statement as whole for both parties to be interpreted as see fit per actions.

And Chris, I grew up not in the country by any means but have family that live in the country. I've worked with animal rescue groups, still do. All my animals are rescues. I live by the principle of old, if youre not going to eat it and use all of an animal don't kill it (thus why I don't hunt).

I don't fish because there is already enough fish caught and wasted that I can certainly find some myself at a restaurant or market.

I believe in euthanization because that is the humane aspect. Sure its a wild bird. It didn't look by any means like your cat was going to eat it. And discounting 'nature' (nature went away a long time ago when humans moved in and took over) there was no reason not to be humane to that bird. THe bird has every much a right to live as your cat. If the cat caught the bird, was going to eat him, hes an outside cat, and thats how you have trained him to catch his food that is one thing COMPLETELY different (but that is not how the situation seems whatsoever, but feel free to correct me if that is the case).

With modern medicine, humans overcrowding animal's territory, and pets being domesticated, a cat does not HAVE to kill an animal to survive and therefore is a senseless death. And again should that animal be critically or mortally injured could certainly be euthanized in a humane fashion.

And I don't support PETA.

I've been waiting for someone to bring that up.

Must of us can be revealed as somewhat hypocritical if pressed on our positions hard enough.

I love birds. Always have. Have a couple as pets.

I am definitely not a cat person. Not my thing at all, though my cousin has one that I like.

The thought of cats killing birds therefore pains me.

Cats killing rats? Okay by me. So I clearly place the value of one life over another.

Yes a month ago I saw a cat who was bleeding out its eye and had been hit by a car an hour or so before and had a pile of its own feces and was critically wounded.

I got off the bus, ran to it, wrapped it in my sweatshirt, kept it warm until I could get a friend there ten minutes later, took it to a vet, paid several hundred dollars, got it taken care of and although it has some vision problems in the one eye and has a limp it is alive and well!

I choose not to kill vermin. I humanely trap any mice in my house (which has only happened twice having one mouse each time) and release them into the wild.

I mean hell I trap spiders in a cup and will escort them out and find a place for them in my garden.

I just figured if there's that much out pouring for one kind of animal it should apply to all, thanks for answering that question dude

Taking the 15 minutes to go to the vet and then wait is humane???? I could easily take care of it other ways. She ate the second bird... I want you to teach my cat to not hunt.

thats good to hear Mike, I respect you for that, its an extremely difficult and expensive thing to do and you are to be commended

and thanks for answering the question about the mice. thats nice, and I'm someone who actually had a few pet mice while growing up, but when my cat has caught one, I haven't gotten disturbed by it... I'll freely admit I don't value vermin that highly
