It's a great new restaurant. Never had a bad dish yet.
AND they have some cool looking shirts. I see they're advertising Mexquite on them now, the owner's other place across the parking lot.

The wife and I went there last friday for breakfast and we had a very good experience there. They were so on top of things that they greeted us as soon as we opened the door and the service kept getting better from there.....I'd give this place a 10 out of 10 for service, it was better then could be expected.
The food was very good too, the misses had the crab eggs benedict and I had the early toast omlette which was very very good, the side potatos are very tasty too.
I also liked the decor there, very modern, they really did the place up nice and it looked very good inside.
They also serve very good coffee and its one of the only places I've ever been where they give you a caraf of coffee for the table - you'll never run out
All in all, great service, great food, great ambiance, couldn't ask for more
two thumbs up for Early Toast!

that thought did run across my mind too.....
This forum does love to assume what would be the most dramatic. In being the EX OWNER I can tell you personally I wouldnt stoop to the level of posting a fake opinion. I have always told all of you to ask me personally if you had questions...when grandmas kitchen was open I even encouraged you all to come meet me face to face and only 2 of you had the guts to do so. I do not hide behind my screenname. I am Mandee. I have thought several times of visiting Early Toast but everytime I drove past my heart sunk at dreams lost. If I am angry or bitter at anyone is not Early toast, however the landlord. SOOOO i wish there could be a more dramatic explanation for someones disliking a place, however it sounds like someone simply didnt enjoy it. To each there own right? I am living in NJ now and with all the good food here I have nothing to complain about. again I encourage you all to be proactive and positive on the forum, it only takes seconds and a few words to shatter someone. Like grandma said "treat others as you yourself would like to be treated" Blessings!

'I do not hide behind my screenname. I am Mandee.'
I don't think this is about you, rather some ex employee of Early Toast that is bitter. The person posted twice and something seems odd and adolescent.

Mandee, your experiences with My Grandma's Kitchen proved several things:
1) Being the first in a new building is terribly expensive and some businesses can never recover.
2) Being a nice person with good intentions doesn't always add up to success in the restaurant biz. It's a tough business, and if things aren't just right, the market will get you.
3) Despite your desire to help people and give them a chance at a job, not all will respect you and appreciate what you've done. Rather than seeing that someone cared enough to give them a chance, they may see it as having a crappy job serving people.

We tried Early Toast for the first time over the weekend. In short, I'd say the flavor of the food was good, but the service and execution were terrible. Since we liked the flavors, we'd give it another try just to make sure the negatives weren't just a fluke bad day. Now for the long version.
For starters, the design lends itself to filling the space with loud kitchen noises. We had to talk over the constant clanking of dishes and silverware. They were completely filled with customers, and the kitchen noise was louder than the noise of customers talking. To make it even worse, a worker started rolling silverware right behind me... more *clank*clank*clank* rattling my cranium. If they cared about their customers, they would do that in the kitchen area.
Both coffee cups on the table were dirty. One had obvious lipstick marks and the other had something gnarly inside of it. As the employee was walking over with two new cups, we saw him peak in one and turn around. It must have been dirty, too. When he returned, he filled the cups before we could see them. Since he already returned a second set of dirty cups, I'll assume the third set was clean... I hope. It makes you wonder how clean everything else was.
The meal took a long time to arrive. During that time, we overheard the table next to us have something wrong with one of the meals and not get some sides that they ordered. The sides came after the customers had finished the rest of their meal. The replacement for the returned meal didn't arrive for 20+ minutes, after everyone else was finished eating!
When our meal arrived, my french toast was completely cold and they forgot my side of bacon. Based on what I witnessed at the other table and the fact that we were already starting to run late for our next engagement, I just ate the cold food rather than run the risk of never getting a replacement anytime soon.
I never received my bacon even after two "runners" said they would get it. When the server finally came around and saw that we didn't have it, we were finished eating. We declined her offer to get it "to go". It was stupid of me to order a side of bacon for the outrageous price of $4.50, anyway! Maybe she knew that and was just helping me out in these rough economic times.
The server was explaining to the table that was still missing a meal, that they were short-staffed and she was working 9 or 10 tables. On our way out, I counted six people, not including the hostess, that were working the front of the house. The place ain't that big... that should be enough! Sounds like some poor management going on somewhere.
Luckily, my wife's meal was warm, fresh, and delicious. My french toast, even cold, tasted very good and still had a crunchy outside rather than being cold and soggy. There were other items on the menu that sounded very interesting and I would love to try them.
That last paragraph is enough to make me give them another chance. I'll stay away from the $4.50 bacon, though.

It's amazing people have these terrible experiences and just say "Eh, I'll give it another chance." It's no wonder all these crappy places are able to stay in business so long, because everybody is so lame to give each place 2 chances to give them crappy service and over-priced food.

The noise in that restaurant was one of my major complaints when it was Grandma's Kitchen and was the reason I never went back. In addition to the open design that exposes all of the noise from the kitchen, music was too loud and staff yelled to one another. I had taken an elderly neighbor to lunch, and even moving my chair to sit right next to her didn't resolve the noise problem.
I would give a restaurant a second chance over service issues -- even good restaurants can have a bad day. But, unless the restaurant walls off that kitchen, I don't see an improvement on the noise front.
