You're wasting gas by going out of your way to costco anyway.

No, costco is on my way home from work everyday, so stopping there isn't really out of my way.

Yup. It wouldn't surprise me if they yank the posted stop signs there and install another traffic signal. One that cycles every 5 minutes or so, 24 hours a day...

Not much. There was a 19" HDTV for $199, but I bought one at Costco for the same price in December and Best Buy also had one for the same price around that time, so it isn't that great of a deal considering all sales are final and you will have to pay to ship them to the manufacturer's service center if you get a defective item.
Most items were 10% or 20% off "Original Price." Original price was high, so after the discount, they were barely competitive with Costco and Sam's Club or Amazon at best.
Some of their portable GPS units where still priced absurdly high compared to the warehouse stores and Amazon.com even after the discount.
They had an Acer Aspire netbook for what I thought was a good price, but I went over to Sam's Club and the they had the exact same model for the same price or less.
Their liquidation sale isn't good enough to make up for the all sales final restriction yet.
Maybe in a few weeks they will cut prices more on what isn't selling.

Mervyn's marked down most things to 90% off on their final day open, but there was no selection to choose from then.
I don't think they mark down electronics very much unless it's an open box item. I went to Compusa in Roseville when they had their liquidation sale and I didn't buy anything because the liquidation sale discount prices were still not anything special.
Instead of really big markdowns, Circuit City will probably just return what won't sell to the manufacturer and it will end up at Big Lots or Overtsock.com.
10% off is a stupid and insulting discount for a liquidation sale when they often advertise more than 10% off in their regular weekly ads.

I know when my dad was looking for a computer he want to CC and they refused to match BestBuy's price (twice).

I thought about checking for deals at CC on Saturday after I heard the "going into liquidation sale mode" on Friday but 2 things held me back. Liquidation pricing normally = no real deals and second the Folsom CC never had anything I couldnt get at BB or online cheaper and with better selection.
I have been to liquidation sales like those held by Bar None and there were deals to be made but these store closings are not worth it to me. At LnT, however I picked up display hardware for my garage (hooks, brackets and SS shelves) for $15.

They also bring in other liquidation items into the store to get rid of them. I saw that at both Mervyns and LNT.
A lot of this outside liquidation product is pretty junky but the liquidators depend on the closing stores "good name" to get you to buy it. Junky rugs, toys, "as seen on tv" sorts of things. You'll probably see some defunct model tv's and stereo gear, 2006-2007 models that have been sitting in a warehouse, etc.

Those liquidation companies are interested in selling the merchadise for as much as possible. We went into Meryn's about 3 weeks into their liquidation and the pricing was higher than regular Mervyn's pricing. What was sad was that people were buying like they were getting great deals. We walked out and went to the factory stores which were having a real sale.
Don't climb the hill go to BB or Costco instead until they get to the last week or so.

For those comparing prices to "costco and sams club"... the products are NOT the same in about ever case when it comes to electronics. Costco and Sams will have the same "type" of tv and lead you to believe its the same but it IS NOT. If you check the exact model #'s, call the company supervisors like sharp etc... you will learn. The models of tv's are either specifically built for those places with cheaper parts and less features or are discontinued models. I've proven this point about 20 times already with different ones who purchased the "same" products at a cheaper rate via sams or costco. I'm not saying not to buy anything from costco and sams because they do have a great return policy but I am saying that your silly to compare the prices for the most part.
Most of all, I would like to say that even though I was not a shopper of CC... I'm very sorry to hear it go under and very sorry to families that had counted on there employment with the company.
Circuit City has over 30,000 employee's and has been around for over 60 years. Its a big hit to the economy and many of its people... some of which may have worked there for god knows how long. Many may have had a bad experiance in the Folsom store (or all others lately) but a company thats been around for over 60 years deserves a salute IMO because they had to have done something right...
