I couldn't say for sure, but I could see a lot of people out working in the mall area. Can't say they were all mall workers, but it sure looks like its full steam ahead!

What may happen is after they're done with the exterior skins and roofing, the financier might want to see some leases signed before they release the money to do the interior work, exterior finish work/landscaping, etc.
Big problems if they stop and start. Their permits may expire before they can finish and building code may be revised.
My wifes company is building a new building and they've done the stop-start-stop thing for about 4 years now. They just had to go back in and rip out some of the stuff they did and redo it to a newer code standard. Heck of a waste.

I would not exactly call any info the city gives as facts. But it is a fact that the Palladio is not full steam ahead.

Meaning what exactly?

Yeah... but I should trust you... who heard from a friend.
I'll trust the city first.
Wouldn't be the first time people on this website spread false information about the Palladio.

agreed! This goes so much deeper than people want to admit or maybe realize. The federal deficit has doubled in 8 years.....and it took the country 200 years to get it to the point it was 8 years ago. China holds the purse strings and they could bring the US to their knees if they chose to do so. It's a very scary time. Once the layers of this onion are peeled we will all realize that this is far worse than the "Great Depression" and it's going to take years to recover. It may never be 'the way it was' again. A 'confident' and competent President will make us feel better, yes, but there's no way we are going to bounce back in 2009. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best - if you are fortunate enough to have local family - thank your lucky stars.

I can't believe it took 8 pages before the blame for Palladio faultering was put on Bush. Wasn't this mall supposed to be built years ago before the cesspool even admistration took over?

If you follow the logic of the thread we are talking about the mall faltering
(the correct spelling) because of the lack of potential leases......which comes full circle to the state of the current economy, which is in dire straights after 8 years of Bush and Co.
Comprendre???

Yeah I comprendo Paco but as I said wasn't the damn mall on the plan for the last 20 years? What took so long? And BTW, we haven't been in a recession for the last 8 years have we? If they built the thing 6 years ago it'd be complete. I believe it'd have a ton of empty space but it'd be complete. It's the timing that has doomed the place.

As much as it pains me to do so, I gotta side with Darth. It's pretty ignorant to blame Bush for the economy. The situation we're in now is the fault of:
1. Greedy and reckless lenders
2. Greedy and reckless home buyers
Darth is also correct in pointing out the mall has been on the docket for a long time and if it had been built in the halcyon days when shoe salesmen could buy mansions for no money down, then yes, it would be open already. Bush may be a lot of bad things, but responsible for the economic collapse is not one of them. That is the fault of too many people biting off far more than they could chew.

But Rush, Tom, Savage and company are blaming Obama for the high unemployement numbers - saying that businesses are laying off in anticipation of what Obama is going to do...
That's the story conservatives are trying to peddle
Just that it's not getting much traction
