Believe it or not ... our case got postponed until October 9th! My wife went to court today, a representative from Bassett was there, and the judge did not have time to hear our case. Evidently they plan their calendar around people settling out of court and if you actually show up and want to proceed there's not enough time set aside. That's our speedy court system in action. So ... back to waiting another month to see what will happen. Sorry I didn't have better news today! But we WILL prevail on October 9th!

Welcome to our badly broken judicial system. This is why it took 6 years for me to get divorced. I know how frustrating it is.

Sorry about your wasted trip. And good luck on 10/09/09!

It wasn't a totally wasted trip. My wife got to check out the other side and is a whole lot less worried than she was yesterday! Thanks for the good wishes and we'll definitely keep you all posted.

Thanks, rda.
Did you get any intermediate responses, like"...we've received", "proceeding" ..etc..
Have you passed 10 weeks yet?

My "rep" tells me the 4-6 week turnaround time is now from the end of the month in which you sent them. They're batching them all together. I'm sending in this month's receipts today (2nd month). When/if I get my first card, which should be 35.00, I'll post here.

Hi everyone!

So I'm glad that I'm not the only one getting pissed at this scam company. I read all the fine print, have taken notes of everyone I have talked to and scanned all documents that I sent to this company. I received my $600 rebate from a electronics store in Chicago,IL. (Grant's Electronics)

My first rebate was postmarked Aug-11-2009.

Six weeks would of been last Friday (9/26). In the Terms and Conditions #15 it only says: Allow approximately 4 to 6 weeks for the delivery of your Visa Gift Card.

I tried calling them today but it kept telling me "one caller is in front of you".

PLEASE keep this thread alive! Post here on any updates you receive. THANKS! Do you think there is any way to get back at the company we purchased our items from? I should of went to law school, this sucks.

Update 9/29:

I sent an email to rebates@myfreetravel.com and got this back:

Your August receipts have been received and processed. They are valid. You'll receive your $35 Visa giftcard within 4-6 weeks from August 31, 2009. Please proceed with the program accordingly for September.

Thanks and have a great day!

They will be getting a call back and an email sent if I don't have anything in the mail by Oct, 14.

That's the same info I got from my rep. He says they're batching everything together at the end of the month. I just sent my Sept. voucher/receipt in today, so I'll keep proceeding expecting to get my stuff soon. Once you get going, it appears we'll get a new one every 4 weeks.

I will definitely post the results of our small claims case which will go to court October 8 (I had posted court was Oct 9 but I just checked and it's on Oct 8). But in the meantime here's someone who already took a car dealership to small claims and came out the winner:

It's nice to see that at least one court is holding the company who gave out vouchers responsible for its fulfillment!

Hello everyone!

First off thank you all for posting this discussion!!

I too am about to "give this a shot" but I am very hesitant, thus my searching lead me here. I registered just to take part in this discussion!

I just got $500 Gas and a $500 Grocery voucher from having GutterFilter installed on my home. I was VERY leery of this when I was told about it and at least for us, this "$1000 in savings" was not a selling point for the GutterFilter installation; we were doing that regardless of this "deal".

The installation company is ClearView Home Services and is a local representative for GutterFilter here in BC, Canada. The coupon/voucher program is being offered by MyFreeTravel.com and the certificates say www.claimyourvisacards.com. They say "check out our "A" rating at the Better Business Bureau" - I checked, the BBB lists them as "NO RATING", with some complaints, mostly about travel voucher 'problems'.

So I registered both my Gas and Grocery at www.claimyourvisacards.com and printed off all my coupons. I have to send in two registration fees of $15.95CDN; one for each certificate/program. I just hate sending off $30 now knowing that I'm probably getting scammed, but still doing it anyway! Oh well, here goes.

I'm mad at myself for giving out my real phone numbers and not using my garbage email address too. Oh well, I guess I'll get better at shining on the telemarketers (I like to waste their time if I have the time).

I read (and printed out) all the 'fine print' and terms. Yes, there are a LOT of them and very specific, which is the first sign that something is not quite right. Like why make people jump though so many hoops, just for the sake of mailing in monthly certificates!

I also heard, that they wait until you call and complain before sending out your gift cards! Probably only a small % of people bother to call, so then they only have to send that % the cards and just ignore the rest! I've often wondered about this for regular "mail in rebates" as why in this day and age it still takes 8-12 weeks to get a $20 rebate on the new printer you just bought is beyond me. And damn near EVERY time I call to find out where the my check is, it's always the same thing, "oh, we JUST processed that and it's on it's way". Yeah, 'just' meaning we waited until you called, then we processed it!

So much like you, I am gambling $30 of my hard earned money that I might get something back out of all this, but I'm not holding my breath! Like the rest of you guys, I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again for all your info!

Cheers,

IF...claimyourvisacards does not fall through and the companies try to push us to another rebate system is there anyway we can get out of it? Tell them we want the money directly or return our merchandise? Anyone know the law on this?

The coupons say (on the orginal ones that went belly up) that the retailer or supplier of the coupon had no affiliation with the promotional company. I would think that absolves the giver of any legal responsibility to follow through or make good.

Hello everyone,

I too have not yet received anything yet. Today I was told by myfreetravel that my first card has been sent and it would be here in a few days (we shall see). It has been more than 6 weeks though but they changed the terms and conditions (without notice of course) and they now have 8 days before they are late. They also added that the terms and conditions can be changed without notice. That was also not in the original terms and conditions from July.

I don't think it works that way RDA. The purchase agreement was between myself and Becks. They advertised $500 in free groceries. I didn't even receive the coupon until after my couch was delivered. They are definitely liable to make good on the promotion.

But I guess we will find out if myfreetravel goes down as well.
