Hello everyone!
First off thank you all for posting this discussion!!
I too am about to "give this a shot" but I am very hesitant, thus my searching lead me here. I registered just to take part in this discussion!
I just got $500 Gas and a $500 Grocery voucher from having GutterFilter installed on my home. I was VERY leery of this when I was told about it and at least for us, this "$1000 in savings" was not a selling point for the GutterFilter installation; we were doing that regardless of this "deal".
The installation company is ClearView Home Services and is a local representative for GutterFilter here in BC, Canada. The coupon/voucher program is being offered by
MyFreeTravel.com and the certificates say
www.claimyourvisacards.com. They say "check out our "A" rating at the Better Business Bureau" - I checked, the BBB lists them as "NO RATING", with some complaints, mostly about travel voucher 'problems'.
So I registered both my Gas and Grocery at www.claimyourvisacards.com and printed off all my coupons. I have to send in two registration fees of $15.95CDN; one for each certificate/program. I just hate sending off $30 now knowing that I'm probably getting scammed, but still doing it anyway! Oh well, here goes.
I'm mad at myself for giving out my real phone numbers and not using my garbage email address too. Oh well, I guess I'll get better at shining on the telemarketers (I like to waste their time if I have the time).
I read (and printed out) all the 'fine print' and terms. Yes, there are a LOT of them and very specific, which is the first sign that something is not quite right. Like why make people jump though so many hoops, just for the sake of mailing in monthly certificates!
I also heard, that they wait until you call and complain before sending out your gift cards! Probably only a small % of people bother to call, so then they only have to send that % the cards and just ignore the rest! I've often wondered about this for regular "mail in rebates" as why in this day and age it still takes 8-12 weeks to get a $20 rebate on the new printer you just bought is beyond me. And damn near EVERY time I call to find out where the my check is, it's always the same thing, "
oh, we JUST processed that and it's on it's way". Yeah, 'just' meaning we waited until you called, then we processed it!
So much like you, I am gambling $30 of my hard earned money that I might get something back out of all this, but I'm not holding my breath! Like the rest of you guys, I will keep you all posted.
Thanks again for all your info!
Cheers,
