Their local stations (Albany) are all reporting on this each evening. Where is our local support? How can a farm community with a highschool less than 1000 students have more votes than a community where technology is crucial?

I'm using all five of my email addresses. It doesn't seem fair to create additional addresses that I wouldn't continue to use.

Keep in mind that voting ends at 11:59 pm EASTERN TIME on the 12th and that NY tends to pile on the votes during their evening/night. It ends at 8:59 pm our time. Remind folks that they should be sure to vote that day, but to try to vote a little earlier. You can only vote once a day, but I've noticed that they don't strictly follow a 24-hour period; if you voted at 11 pm one day you can vote a little earlier the next and a little earlier the next....we should all make sure we are inching our voting times up so we can be sure to get our votes in that last day. :cheer:

This is not a math class that is available to all students. It is a lie to say that this math class represents the students of sutter. Only a select few are offered this class.


I may be wrong but I think this is what Professor meant when he said it is a sham.

A ridiculous sham it may be, but that doesn't change the fact that in the end one school will be getting a very beneficial prize. A local school is in the running for that, so I will support it. Even though I hope to homeschool my kids through high school I would still love this to go to a school in my community....

No, I believe he means the entire social media "let's vote for our school" effort is the sham.

If you had read the rules and how the awards are being handled, you would know that there are 5 top prizes and 7 secondary prizes. 4 of the 5 top prizes are given based on merit out of the 12 finalists by a review board. The 5th top prize is the one that you are complaining about. Yes- it is an American Idol type of voting, but it is very common in this type of contest. All 12 finalists got there based on their merit.
Sutter could loose the popular vote and still get one of the 4 top prizes if the panel thinks they have a superior product.

It will all over in 11 days .. so not to worry...

I totally agree with you (Schools in smaller communities may have superior projects but don't stand a chance with this system).

Just think, when Folsom wins, we can all congratulate ourselves on cheating (the hacking) & our multiple email accounts created just for this vote.
