Kind of scary how complacent we have become with encroachment on our freedom. Wasn't there an article in the news about apathy in our young people along those lines?

This ban won't affect me either, but I don't see it saving lives either. Just another tool for nosy neighbors who thinks everyone else's business is their own to turn in another neighbor they don't happen to like.

easy revenue generator for the City too. Even our local police officers can spot a beer bottle a mile away. Sad, we did enjoy a sandwich and a beer while enjoying the music at City Park.

As I understand it, the music in the park is a permitted event, so would not be affected.

Did anyone see the article in the Sac Bee on Thursday in the Metro section regarding the homeless camping in the American River Parkway? Did you see that the county has been paying a $159,000 a year since 2001 to stop this? Now they acknowledge that issuing citations to the Homeless doesn't work!

I wonder how much this new ordinance will cost the City of Folsom and how long we will continue trying to enforce these standards onto a group of people who don't care?

Trying to control the homeless by passing an ordinance banning alcohol in parks is so short sighted! Unfortunately the 99.9 % of law abiding citizens are the only ones who this law really affects.

Exactly, well said.

Laws like this turn peaceful, law-abiding citizens into criminals.

If this law does pass how would the people know about it so they don't get in trouble. Really, who would think that they would need a permit to drink beer at a bbq in the park. Are they going to post signs at the park or when you enter a neighborhood?

Beware having a beer in your driveway can result in a fine.

Beware any adult beverages with your bbq can result in a fine, please contact the city for a permit.

So did this on pass or not?

If not, we should do a "drink-in" at the park.. take about 4 days off work and pass out on the lawn.

If so, we should still do it, but get a permit first.

I'm curious exactly what the criteria is for a permit. I don't remember this being mentioned. Say, for example, I wanted to go to a park and bring a bottle of wine with cheese and crackers. Is all that is required is to pay a fee? Where do I do this? Parks & Rec? If my request for a permit is denied, is there any recourse or review process?

You have to be a white male, upper middle class, and produce 2 weeks of paystubs and a property title demonstrating you are not homeless.

Why do you continue to sensationlize this?

Private property is not the issue here. You can have a been in your driveway, and with your barbecue as long as it's on your property or on any private property with the owner's permission.
