Rangerdn can find any excuse in the book! The trail is ALREADY there! This is just improving it and making it safe for those of us with children or less able.
But the lawyers you keep paying are happy to take your money. Thanks for wasting taxpayer money forcing the city to defend against this... I'm sure that money would be better spent elsewhere but now we are stuck fitting th bill for a misguided attempt at "environmentalism" despite the fact the city already prevailed once in court.

I'm trying to protect the environment in a State Park. I can live with that. This wide paved trail with its 8 foot high walls, ripped out trees, and vegetation will destroy a wonderful little dirt path through the wild. This is an incredible area with large Dutchman Pipe Vines, a plant that is home to caterpillars of the pipe vine swallowtail butterfly, that will be plowed under. So sad that many of those posting have no background and can't see what will be destroyed. The plan for this area called for challenging recreational experiences in a wilderness environment. The city got an addition to the plan for access from the Historic District where appropriate and feasible. The courts must decide what fits that criteria.
There is blend of experiences in the plan for Lake Natoma. The kind of recreation that you desire is at Negro Bar, Willow Creek, and Nimbus Flat. Other sections of the Parkway are designated to be left in a natural condition.
This project is now up to $1,2 million. Tax payers money to advance an agenda in a state park.

This area is not wilderness! Who are you kidding? It was stripped bare in the gold rush and is far from the pristine virgin ground you try to paint.
You can talk about all the beautiful plants you want but what about the invasives... The blackberries, etc.
If there is any place in the state park that should be developed this is it. It has access to restrooms, dining, other amenities. Negro bar and willow creek do not provide access to other activities and are isolated requiring you to drive there and drive home again.
An evening stroll to enjoy nature within walking distance from home or other visitor oriented destination is something that is sought after around the world! Adding this makes historic Folsom an even greater destination that will attract from a broader audience which is good for the HD and good for the city as a whole.

This section of Lake Natoma was avoided by the gold dredgers because it is a cliff. The city's grant application said that the exotic plants would be removed. That has been degraded to planting four native trees after many trees are remove. Look for the trees with the green metal tags, they will be removed.
Yes there are exotics in the area, but in this one little section a lot of native plants still survive. The Native Plant Society reviewed the site and was amazed by the collection of natives. Strange, you claim that there is a rest room? the nearest public rest room is in the parking garage.
You describe the experience that you seek as a local city experience with rest room, restaurant, and other amenities. This is a state park with a mission of providing park service to all the people of California and a part of the American River Parkway designated for use of all the people of the county . Yes, you may need to drive to Negro Bar to get what you want to experience. If this project goes ahead what sort of experience will you have. Walking on pavement with most native plant removed and under a high traffic bridge.
Go down to the lake now. There is a stairway that will take you to the shoreline. The nice little path puts you back in touch with the earth. A lost experience in the city.
We could argue this for days without finding a resolution. You may be right, SARA might lose it appeal. Evidently the city is so confident that they are going ahead with the project. Just what do you want at Lake Natoma? Think of this. The original plan called for lighting along the shoreline. State Park regulations have a night time closure for the area so the lights were supposed to be taken out. At one point the lights were put back in. State parks had them removed from the plan again. Finally the city has lights that just enter the park saying that people need lighting as they return at sunset.
Is the city trying to set precedence for lighting in the park? You can guess the answer to that one. Soon to be a developed state park with money making amenities galore.

Recommend a "fake news" check.
While local realtor is celebrating "opening" of "ADA ramp/trail", and knocking all of Save the American River members locally, city removed this newsletter from city website.
Truth is, State Parks refused to sign-off. State Parks sent 2 employees to see Folsom Parks & Rec, to present city with a list of Deficiencies.
Fake news ? Note the city never said it was "opening" -- but "ribbon-cutting."
Notices of incorrect myfolsom post and of State Park's actions both arrived in my personal mail. The former source needs to learn about verifying the truth of city "stuff", and the value of groups dedicated to protecting the innocent as well as our sole water source.
Suggest you call Robert Goss in city P&R, to ask him about major issues.

What the heck are you talking about?
THIS particular local Realtor is indeed celebrating the new access to the lake. Now, nearly everyone can access the lake and beautiful trails.
I haven't seen any 'knocking of SARA members locally'.
What are you referring to there?

Maestro, I have a friend with a double trailer gravel hauler.... About 58 feet long... Gonna drive around your block thirty or forty times tomorrow.... Fully loaded, Just for kicks and giggles... You'll feel the Earth move as we go by... Just do your loop, over and over again. Probably will spill lots of loose gravel too, especially on the turns.... Then we'll park it in front of your house for two and a half days.... Get your camera ready...! Oh, and make sure you call the city to complain.... I am sure you have them on speed dial. Chris

I went down for the ceremony. What a great facility!
The ramps and paved sections ensure that nearly everyone can get down and enjoy the lake.
The paved parts of the trail are made to look natural, but are smooth enough for people with difficulty walking. One father brought his wheelchair-bound son, was able to get down to the shore for the first time in his life.
There are 3 observation platforms with benches, perfect for watching the world go by.
Go check it out!

Steve, yes, very cool.....! Sad that some can not see the benefit and the beauty of it all......? Maestro, get over it please, and stop suing the city, any body and everybody you can because you have the time......! Find another hobby please....! You have cost us a lot of money and for no good, no good at all, no public good..... Get a life, please....! Start counting butterflies, birds, or flowers, it will do you good in the long run and not cost us a dime. Chris

Very cool, can't wait to check it out myself....... See that "Maestro"......? People actually like what the city is doing and enjoy their work...! Start seeing the glass half full please....! Half empty makes you sad.... Sad and litigious in some rare cases....... Which eats your soul from the inside out........ Give it a break, go for a walk in the sunshine and enjoy...! Life is short. Chris
