We've been to Applebee's twice now and had a chlorine/chemical taste in our drinks/on our glasses (water and soda).  Has anyone else experienced this?  I complained both times and was brought new drinks......but I doubt they have resolved the situation.  The waitress said that the machine just shoots out whatever amount of cleanser it is programmed for.  Our service was horrible the last (most recent) time we were there.

We like the food at Mission Rogelio's, but the service is usually awful.

I would never go back to Applebee's unless I was meeting someone for a beer or something. Of course, they might not clean their taps much either.

I've been to Mission Rogelio twice (about three years ago) and liked it each time. I had the shrimp diablo, and it was the first time I had something really spicy up here that my mouth was on fire. I've heard mixed things about them, that a lot of there meals are basically frozen and re-heated. Who knows what to believe sometimes.

I'll try and stay negative...  ;-)

For some odd reason, my wife and I must be the only couple in town that think Sol Azteca is some of the worst Mexican food we've ever had.

Well, on the "better late than never" theory:

You're not the only one. My wife & I ate there once, and that was more than enough. Service was about the worst we've ever experienced, and the food was extremely mediocre. Never gone back, never will.

The only other Folsom restaurant I can think to put in the same category is "Golden Lake" (in the Walmart shopping center). Yuck; worst excuse for Chinese we've ever had. Makes Jennie's taste fantastic (and we don't like Jennie's, either :-).

In keeping with the negative theme, I've got to disagree about Priya. It really isn't bad at all. Buffet food is buffet food. You can't expect to get a delicious, fresh-tasting meal from food that's been sitting there for an hour or more. (Though there's no excuse for serving the previous day's rice, if they really did that.)

Went to Baja Fresh the other day. Nasty! Nasty! NASTY! Their burritos blow. Thanks for the salsa, guacamole and stray piece of chicken in a long, thin tortilla shell.

I like my meat well done, to me that means no pink in the middle. I ask for this everytime I get a steak and there is still bright red in the middle and lots of blood still oozing out, yuck. Why do they do this? I never send it back because you hear those stories about them messing with your food if you do. I've had it happen at two restaurants here in town, does anyone know where you can get a good steak and it well done?

Those two items are mutually exclusive! There is no such thing as a good well-done steak. tongue.gif

The Black Angus will make them well done if you ask for it.

I tell them that it had best be well done, no blood, no mooing or it will go back. It always come back well done, the way I like my steaks.

Cattlemen's, Folsom Boulevard near Hazel - drive through the parking lot of the Nimbus Winery around the back along Highway 50.

Okay, here are nominees:

Hacienda - Don't go there for the food. I guess it's still in business because of the patio and the alcohol. Anything takes good after a few beers.

That Chinese/Japanese buffet place on E. Bidwell near Subway. Very salty food.

Cliff House - Food isn't that bad but I think it's just hyped up because of the view.

I eat at that chinese/japanese buffet near subway almost every week. I think it's called Sakura. Their chinese food is pretty good, but I'm there for the SUSHI!!
Where else can I get four or more plates of sushi rolls, and my as much salmon nigiri as my stomach can handle for $8.75. This is the only place I go to, to satisfy my sushi cravings now.

The worst restaurant is probably BoBo cafe and Pick up Stix. The food is sticky and oily.

First: I have lived in Folsom/El Dorado Hills forever, so I feel as though my input is pretty valuable.

First off, Taiko Sushi is not bad. Not awesome, but not bad. If you're looking for the best sushi in the immediate area, try Sky Sushi in EDH. Its in the Raleys shopping center off the freeway.

Absolute Best- If you want the best food in Folsom, there is an awesome hole-in-the-wall place called Bailies across the street from the DMV. Try their Asian Skirt Steak. Best I've had.

Mexican - Sol Azteca boasts the best sit down Mexican Food, but if you want autheticity and a quick bite, try La Fiesta on E Bidwell. Great food.

Best Pizza- without a doubt, Chicago Fire in Old Town. Comparable Delivered pizza- Z Pizza next to BJ's. Also, if you want something a little thicker, suprisingly, Leonardini's inside of Winco is awesome.

Best Sandwich- If you havent been, you have to go to Beach Hut Deli next to Target. I have yet to go a week without eating there at least once. You'll understand why once you try it.

Chinese- Someone posted that Jennies palace isnt good. Try it again, but get the Mongolian Beef this time. But, the best would probably have to be a toss up between China House on Bidwell and WaMae on Blue Ravine.

As for the worsts of Folsom:

Pita Pita was absolutely horrible. Watching them cook the food was almost as disgusting as eating it. On top of that, they don't have much of a selection.

I am personally not a fan of Chipotle, but that's just my opinion and I know a lot of people that do like it, so no comment except that they have begun to skimp on their burritos.

Mels is terrible. Theres not much else to say but, I swear they found every single redneck in Folsom and stuck them in the same place to work. I actually had a fly sitting on top of a salad, which they served to me. Then when I showed them the fly, they didnt bring me a new salad. It was either eat that one or no salad. Yeah, I know.

Lastly, Cirro's Pizza on Blue Ravine. The pizza was alright, when I finally got a slice. The one time I went there, the cashier was chatting with her boyfriend while I waited to be served, the cook was outside smoking while people were waiting for pizza and the salad bar was an absolute mess. It took 45 minutes for a pizza to be put out on their buffet line while 20 people sat waiting. When it finally came, everyone rushed it and it was gone before half got a slice. I felt like I was in a homeless shelter.

Anyway, that is my brief take on the food in folsom.

It once took over an hour to get a sandwich at Beach Hut. The great food is no match for how horribly long it takes to get it.

And Pizzeria Classico mops the floor with Chicago Fire and any other pizza joint in town.

I agree that Pizzaria Classico is good, but It doesnt quite have that X Factor that Chicago Fire possesses. Ive had a hundred pizzas just like Classico, but Chicago Fire presents a little different type (for folsom) and a great atmosphere.

As for Beach Hut, I will swear by this place. I agree that when it gets busy, it does take upwards of 15 minutes to get a sandwich, but I know you'll agree that their sandwiches are unmatched by anyone. Ive been going there since before it even came to Folsom and I will continue going because it makes me happy. lol.
