I think my point sailed right over your head (like a crisp 7-iron).....I have NO CHANCE of beating Tiger, and Big Blue has NO CHANCE (in my opinion) of going 11-1.....Got it now ?? Set your drink down, sir. cheers.gif

Boy... I think you get the "Johnny Negative" award of the season... and we are only 1 game into it.

Look at their schedule. It isn't the most difficult... and their only tough away game is Wisconsin. They get both Ohio State and Penn State at home. We all know what a little home clock keeping can do for the Wolverines (ie. 2005 game against Penn State).

BULLETIN: They lost to Appalachian State!!! They might be foldin'-up the tent as we speak, confidence-wise. Please lose to Oregon so Carr is fired right there on the sidelines. Please. I'll do anything.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

Yes... they lost. Have you ever heard of a fluke. They happen. It isn't like this Michigan team isn't talented. It is basically the same team that went 11-2 last season!

Man... you are so easily disheartened. Do you give up if you hit one errant golf shot that gives you a ten on the first hole of golf... or do you learn from what you did on the first hole and make the next 17 better.

Wow... you would be a great motivational speaker.

Yes....Wisconsin....

Yep... 3 Rose Bowl wins (and Big Ten titles) since 1994.

9-3 in bowl games since 1994.

The most wins in the Big Ten over the past 3 years.

Yep... that's a fluke. Get a clue.

Flukes come in all shapes and sizes....Wisconsin is a fluke of legendary proportions. Hey, more power to 'em, and their groupies. Hmmm...when was their last National Championship??? Oh...that's right...sorry...

Wisconsin has proven itself NOT to be a fluke. Why Michiganders can't face reality, I'll never know.

Carr's not going to get fired. If they were going to fire him, he would already have been canned. He will go, however, but by him "retiring" after this season.

I wouldn't say he's panicking. Rather he's pretending that college football doesn't exist this year! I'm loving it after years of hearing that Wisconsin had an easy schedule every year and that's why their record was so good. HA!

Wisconsin does have an easy schedule. They play in the Big 10 and generally their non conference schedule isn't very difficult. In the Big 10 its possible for a team to NOT play the best 2 teams in their conference and lately, the Big 10's bottom dwellers may be some of the worst Divison 1 teams in all of college football. So if by chance you don't play the best teams in the conference and play a weaker non conference schedule, you should end up with a good record.

I do need to tip my hat to Wisconsin in that they consistently beat the teams they are supposed to beat, which is a sign of a good team.

At least you can inject some humor into this... I'll agree that Wisconsin is no Michigan when it comes to the history of the two teams... but the turnaround the program has endured is quite amazing.

The university invested very little money in the sports programs before 1993... it is quite evident. Records of the major sports (basketball and football) were awful. Top state recruits were going elsewhere because they wanted to win. 30,000 fans filled a stadium that had a capacity of 77,000. The team had no chance of being televised in those years.

Then when Barry Alvarez arrived... things completely turned around. He has taken the Badgers to 3 Rose Bowls (1994... 1999 and 2000) and won each of them. Camp Randall completely sells out each Saturday they are in town. The team is 9-3 in bowl games since 1994. Top state recruits as well as many from out of state are now choosing to go to Wisconsin.

Sure Wisconsin doesn't have the history... or the number of national titles that Michigan does (since we have none)... but to say they are a fluke is rather ignorant. I would never say Wisconsin is on the same historic level as Michigan... ND... Florida... or several other teams. But I'd say that they have made quite a name for themselves in the football world over the past 14 seasons.

I really wish the Big Ten could figure out a way to play each school in the conference like the Pac 10 does. It would eliminate the unbalanced schedules that you mention... but having an odd number of teams (eleven) doesn't help.

Luckily the Badgers do play the other 3 good teams in the Big Ten this year (Penn State... Ohio State and Michigan).

Also... as the program continues to build... I hope that Wisconsin schedules more difficult non-conference teams. Washington State this year will help. There are other Pac 10 teams in upcoming years like Arizona State and Oregon State. I would love to see an SEC or Big 12 team as well.

I agree, although, like you said, playing other Big 10 bottom-dweller teams isn't exactly a barometer of how good you are. And another thing....can't they come-up with a better name than "Camp Randall"??? Lord....sounds like a glorified homeless camp, for cryinoutloud.....

You are rather ignorant and are losing quite a bit of credibility as the evening wears on...

Camp Randall was a military trading post in Madison during the Civil War. The stadium now stands on this land.

I don't begrudged teams for scheduling a patsy for an easy win. I don't think we should look down an Appalachain State for scheduling Michigan.

Of course I can. It's only sports. Calm down. It ain't do-or-die, despite what goofy allegiance you have to your "team". Relax. I would hope you have this much passion towards your family, but, sadly, you probably don't. Sure, I thought everything revolved around the 49ers way back when, but I grew up. It's entertainment, and folks like you who take it entirely too seriously, need a reality check. Maybe some Valium. Just my .02
