A suppression hearing would be a defense motion to disallow some evidence for some technical reason; i.e. illegal search. It is one of many possible preliminary hearings. The courts continue hearings all of the time for hundreds of different reasons. Even when they get to the hearing in April, it will only resolve the matter of whether a certain piece of evidence can be used at a trial.

So what does this stuff mean? Do you really think it will go on forever? I looked up what the charges stood for and they mean felony drugs...blonde74 sent me a link to this site that say his court dates. Here is the list:

I forgot to check the website...I kept looking and they hadn't updated it almost a week after the supression hearing stuff. I kept looking in the Sac Bee, but for some reason an article that was important enough to be on the front page wasn't important enough for a follow up....

It's the defendant who has the right to a speedy trial, so if his counsel finds ways to keep continuing it it could go on for awhile. This guy has been up on felony charges before. He has plead to misdemeanor. Pleas are far more common than following through to conviction. Delays by the defense make a plea agreement more likely (wear down the overworked prosecution).
"Sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident, teachers' unions have a long history of working against the interests of children in the name of job security for adults. And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.

Sac Bee printed this letter today:

Why 'Mansion' on Page 1?

Re "The Mansion," Feb. 7: I have never felt particularly compelled to write to The Bee until I read this article. As a law enforcement officer, I hold no fondness for illegal drug users or the other inappropriate activities described in your report. I also have the utmost sympathy for any person who lives next to disruptive neighbors.

As a person who has seen a multitude of newsworthy events, it is astonishing to me that "The Mansion" is found by you to merit front-page attention. Your comments, including the naming of a divorced wife and the identification of a local commercial business, showed enormously poor judgment. It is also appalling that you find it appropriate to disclose personal medical information in your article.

This journalism and commentary are more worthy of the National Enquirer than The Bee.

Sorry I haven't got a clue. I looked at the police log on-line but they haven't updated it since the 15th of february. Maybe the have been to busy at Larrick's house. We are all praying for ya.

Just a question...was there any sign of drug manufacturing going on there? Not that anyone here would have first hand knowledge but was it stated anywhere?

From all of the stuff that I've read, I haven't seen anything about them making drugs. But there isn't a list anywhere on what they have removed from the house. The Bee article said there was a full syring...isn't making drugs a dangerious biohazzard? Maybe I watch too much tv.

That was exactly where I was going with this question. IF it is deemed a "meth" lab then the clean up is pricy and will definintely take a bit more than the "as-is" buyer to get that place sold.
It sure will be interesting to see how this shakes out...

Don't the police test air chemicals or whatever to determine if it is a biohazzard? I mean if they are in there anyway looking for drugs....don't they automatically look for evidence of "cooking"? It seems like a natural usful step. Does anyone know?

They wouldnt test the air unless there were signs of creation (common ingredients in bulk quanitities). Im sure they searched the home for anything (including drug making facilities), like I said, its very obvious when stuff is being made, very obvious.

That's so creepy...it gives me chills. Can you imagine what would happen in that neighborhood if they are cooking the stuff? It's supposed to be really flamable and unstable. Are the other houses far enough away to be safe?

its extemely combustable... thats how most methlabs are found... the explosion!

in that house though, there wouldnt be anything more than some windows blown out at most. most instances seen have been in garages, where the blast may have knocked the door off the guide, but then sets the place on fire, but doesnt level even those thin walls.
