Maybe this ought to be a different topic but I've given this some thought and come up with a series of questions that may help to determine our own level of snobbishness here in Folsom (this is by no means exhaustive).

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer?

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner?

Do you shop for clothes based on the label?

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale?

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart?

Do you watch foreign films?

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee?

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom?

Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's?

I only scored a 1, but 3 others applied in the past.

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer?
Don't drink except on rare occasions-then it's usually whatevers I bought that day
Do you have a gardener or housecleaner?
My right hand prunes the garden my left hand cleans the house
Do you shop for clothes based on the label?
hmmm-I shop on sale then what looks comfortable
Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale?
I shop there twice a year to find that perfect something to stuff in my garage
Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart?
Only when they wait till after the cashier has told them twice that walmart doesn't accept travelers checks and then they pull out a monstrous "day planner" and proceed to write a check.
Do you watch foreign films?
Do foreigners make films?
Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee?
Ah- you must be the BYOB committee down at the Pub--lick Pool?
Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom?
Ain't that where all the hicks live- up there in EDH? Why would I want to go there?
Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's?
Ofcoarse I buy my food whole. Who ever heard of half a chicken? I sure ain't driving all the way down to Berkely for some good spuds.
I only scored a 1, but 3 others applied in the past.
It's a wierd world when you gotta score yourself against the world.

Okay....here's mine. How is this scored exactly?

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer? I don't drink either. I don't care for alcohol. wacko.gif

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner? Yes...she is called ME laugh.gif My husband helps with the heavy stuff smile.gif

Do you shop for clothes based on the label? I shop at Kohl's when things are on sale! lmaosmiley.gif

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale? I have done both so I would not refuse at all rolleyes.gif

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart? Nope....I just try to get in, get my household stuff, and be on my way...others in the store don't bother me smile.gif

Do you watch foreign films? Nope.

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee? Does Blockbuster count? laugh.gif That's the only membership we have

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom? There's a movie theatre in EDH?? ohmy.gif

Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's? Never been to either one

I think I scored as "not a snob." I feel a bit out of place here sometimes...I grew up in a working class family and we had to struggle a little while my husband completed graduate school. I guess I never stop appreciating where we came from and how hard we have worked to get where we are....I don't take anything for granted.

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer?

I love wine, and it's often my drink of choice, but when in Rome...

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner?

We do have a gardener, but only because I work sometimes 7 days a week and into the night

Do you shop for clothes based on the label?

My wife usually buys my clothes, and I've never noticed any labels

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale?

Thrift stores and garage sales are great, if I ever have time to browse

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart?

I am more concerned with some of the employees!

Do you watch foreign films?

I don't seek them out. I hate reading subtitles, dubbing is usually bad. I sometimes avoid British movies, as their brand of English is often hard for me to understand

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee?

NO

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom?
NO

Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's?

I think I went to a Whole Foods near De Anza once. That's about it. I think I'm a Winco/Trader Joes kinda guy

Has the air in Folsom recently changed? People are not as friendly any more. It takes a lot of effort for a hello. At the park when I am with my kids, most moms don't want to return my greeting or look at me like "this is a land of no greeting" Strange as it sounds men are a little, only little, bit more friendlier. If you are walking on the sidewalk people walk like they can't see you. What is it?? I say Hi, and I get the look like I am crazy or a very small smile almost half or quarter hearted. I don't want to have a conversation but just a plain hello!!!

Don't ever stop smilinng and saying hello! We can't let "them" whoever they are rule what is instinctively in our hearts. Don't ever stop loving and caring for people even if "they " do. I hope one day our paths cross and I will certainly say "hello" and mean it. There are people out here that are still warm and loving and are looking for other warm and loving people to connect with, even if it is only for a passing "hi".

Fantastic! I do so love a good survey. Please proceed.

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer?

No, but I do *whine* when others are drinking beer, if they aren't sharing. I slay me with such witty wordplay. Seriously though, I will drink beer if others are drinking beer. I will also drink beer if others are *not* drinking beer, or if others, are, say, walking down the street, or sleeping, or eating their breakfast, or going to the library, or navigating my yacht. Since I do most of my beer drinking alone in a darkened room, I really don't give much thought to what others are doing at the time. Same goes for wine.

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner?

Well, as far as gardeners go, I do have Mr. Yoshi, but he gets upset if I call him a gardener. Technically, he's a fifth generation Bonsai Master, and he also taught me the killing arts of the mysterious orient when I was a boy. Grandfather met him at Guadalcanal, and after a rough start they became friends, and so he has been with the family for years. Mr. Yoshi and his staff maintain the bonsai forest on my estate, which is very large (but not very tall). Also I have Gustav my bee keeper, but lately his complaints that climate change is killing the hive have become tiresome, and I may have to let him go, even though it will break the bees' little hearts. Plus there's that Pawnee Indian man, Jim Something-Eagle-or-something, who is my horse whisperer.

Yes, I have housecleaners. A bed this size does not make itself.

Do you shop for clothes based on the label?

I have left specific instructions with my seamstress to not put any labels in my clothes because they make me itch, though sometimes my famous fashion designer friends will give me something new to wear to be seen in. But I have the labels removed before I wear them.

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale?

I have not thought about this. Probably contraception and undergarments, but anything else would be fine, assuming they're not dusty. This is all hypothetical, of course.

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart?

Sam Walton was a friend, and it's much too soon to speak ill of the dead.

Do you watch foreign films?

Oh, indeed I do. American cinema is much too obsessed with sex, violence, plot lines and character development for my tastes. For me, an ideal film should be in black and white and speak to the parallel themes of disjuncture and ambiguity. The Swedes are best at this. My favorite is Bergman's "Midget Laughing at a Camel" ( ). I understand Peter Jackson will be making a four hour remake of this classic, but he is a New Zealander, so that should be okay.

Also, Mr. Yoshi insists that we watch a film tonight called "Godzilla vs. Rodan", which I am looking forward to because I have always enjoyed sculpture.

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee?

Yes, I serve on the boards of several charitable foundations, such as "Pedicurists Without Borders" and also I have done a lot with unwed mothers, if you know what I mean. Also, I was recently asked to join the Advisory Panel for the Kennedy Center Awards, which I will probably do because I believe astronauts are very brave. Plus of course the basic ones - Skull and Bones, Freemasons, Knights of Malta, and the Hardy Boys Junior Detective Club.

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom?

These "movie theatres" of which you speak, I assume they're like my private screening room, but open to the public? That sounds like socialism to me, but there may be money in it. I will consider your words.

Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's?

Good question. I do not know. I will ring the bell and ask the cook where I shop. While I am at it, would you like a sandwich or something?

Maybe this ought to be a different topic but I've given this some thought and come up with a series of questions that may help to determine our own level of snobbishness here in Folsom (this is by no means exhaustive).

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer? 50/50, but I'm Italian, so wine is my heritage. Actaully, though, I can be snobby about my beer. I hate watered-down stuff like Coors and Bud.

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner? Yes

Do you shop for clothes based on the label? No

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale? No

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart? It's not so much the other customers, but the store, at least in Folsom, has never seemed that clean. Call this one a 50/50.

Do you watch foreign films? Only if there are exceedingly hot Latin (Mexican, Spanish, Italian...what can I say, those are the women I like the most, and I married one) women in it, or a British/ Irish comedy.

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee? No, but I am willing to learn. Do they send you to a special school for that? John Winger

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom? No, in fact I like the Folsom one better because people do flock more to the EDH theatre.

Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's? No, although I don't mind a sandwich from David Berkeley's if I'm in the area. Never been to Whole Foods, but I would certainly love to check one out if it was in my Folsom bubble.

I guess I scored a two, but I will aim higher if we do this test again next year.

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer? I don't like beer or wine.

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner? I am the gardner, housecleaner, accountant, etc

Do you shop for clothes based on the label? I like the kind that have no label but silk screened on the inside so it doesn't itch or flip out.

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale? I search garage sale for certain items I need, does anyone have a big plastic playhouse they would like to get rid of?

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart? Nope, with three kids shopping at walmart is a must you can't beat their prices most of the time.

Do you watch foreign films? If it is a good film I don't care I will watch it.

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee? Private club what's that?

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom? I personally haven't been there but I heard they are having free movies this summer.

Do you regularly buy things from Whole Foods or David Berkeley's? Never been

Do you drink wine when others are drinking beer?

[/font] I definitely prefer wine, but don't mind the occasional beer.

Do you have a gardener or housecleaner?

Nope, never have. Those are my titles.

Do you shop for clothes based on the label?

Nope. I'm just happy to find anything that fits.

Would you refuse outright to buy anything from a thrift store or garage sale?

I've done both, although a toothbrush or any personal grooming items would be out of the question.

Do you complain about the other customers at Wal-Mart?

Nope, but some of the employees are kind of frightening if you go late in the evening.

Do you watch foreign films?

Tried, but I don't think I've ever made it all the way through one.

Do you belong to a private club that has a membership committee?

Nope.

Do you only go to the movie theatre in EDH instead of the one in Folsom?

No.
