I sense the emotions here are getting pretty high.

The emotions have been extreme for everyone involved since Jan. 13th, but they will never go away.
The intensity of the emotions will slowly diminish, but they will never go away.
A woman that I never knew, will live in my heart forever, her memory will never go away.

We tried to say that we were sorry that evening and the media spun our words into hateful sound bites.
We tried to reach out to the family the last nine months and were told it wasn't our right.
We can not undo the past events, but we will sit in patient silence and respect those who mourn that night.

In this time of anguish, we hope that their family knows that many people are thinking about them.
And asking God to provide comfort for all who have been affected.
People who've never met you are praying for you.

May God Bless your family.

Sometimes things that come from the best interest are too little, too late.

It wasn't the driver's right to carelessly speed and take another's life. And maybe the "I'm sorrys" would have meant more if they were said instantly, honestly, with remorse and grief instead of retrieving one's speakers from the vehicle.

No you didn't. You people immediately went into "CYA" mode...."Protect our own" mode. That's what was so disgraceful and distasteful. Shame.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

After you get done patting yourself on the back for such a moving statement you may want to call Geico and get some insurnace so that if this ever happens again maybe you can have the abiltity to help the next guy who has to lose his house because his 2nd source of income was taken away (oh yeah and his wife too). G-d may provide comfort but he ain't gonna pay your mortgage.

While I think your heart is in the right place, Family Friend, it might be time to go silent into the night. I was there that afternoon and I witnessed their "remorse" first hand. Sure, they are remorseful now, but not that day. So please save the apologies for your prayers and not preach to those of us who don't buy it.

Yesterday, I was almost run off the road by three teenage girls in three separate cars, one a brand new beemer. They had to be going 65+ around the curve on Glenn between Sibley and Folsom. I still don't know how they negotiated that turn. When I pulled up next to them, I had a hard time believing any of them were old enough to drive. Kinda speaks loudly for raising the driving age to 18, eh?

I don't think the driving age needs to be raised, I think the parents have to step up and act like parents. You know, remember the days when your parents would have actually given you some kind of punishment when you brought home a speeding ticket? Or didn't let you drive their car if you got into an accident? When they actually expected you to be a responsible, respectful person instead of an idiot?

Finally, a good dose of the reality of it all. Sorry to hear you had to deal with those teenage idiots - even worse are their idiot parents for giving them cars like that.... and I agree - the driving age should be raised to 18.

Thanks for that post - hope people read it and understand it - especially Family Friend who has been wrong about it all since day one about this all.

I wonder if we can start posting car descriptions/license plate #'s here on this board of reckless drivers in town. What do you say, John? Who knows....it may do some good. We may have to take this into our own hands. We need to do everything we can to take our City back from the whackjobs and nutbags.

ain't that the truth! my parents would've kicked my arse if I ever did anything that stupid while driving and I would have had my car taken away (which was my moms old car - no new sports cars for this kid)

some teens these days are raised very poorly - as these punks obviously were - parents need to learn to pay attention and teach their kids respect - course the parent needs to know what it means themselves first in order to be able to teach it and unfortunately there's a lot of idiot adults out there too

I totally agree. Make the driving age 18. If you're too young to sign a contract, you're too young to drive a two ton wrecking ball 65mph down the road.

I made my son wait til he was 18. He wasn't making grades I deemed acceptable enough to prove his maturity/responsability. So he had to wait til he was 18 before he could get his license.

and that worked out perfectly fine - he's more mature now and he is actually turning out to be a pretty good (AND RESPONSIBLE) driver.

I think so. If word got back to you that your car, etc, was posted here because of recklessness, I think you'd immediately shape-up. Hey, it may take a village to combat this epidemic...the cops can't be everywhere, right?

+1

I totally agree with that. My baby sister had a bumper sticker on her first car when she was a teen. She put it on right after her first accident that nearly totalled the car and cut the telephone pole in half off of Barton Rd--

The bumper sticker said: If you can't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a life?

That accident shook her up pretty bad; she learned caution the hard way.
